In "The Benchwarmers" (2006) Spade played "Richie Goodman" a man who was always making bad comebacks and constantly trying to pick fights with younger kids. Richie was one of three friends who formed a three player little league team to try to beat the bullies and win access to a new multi-million dollar baseball park.

Spade recieved nothing but compliments from critics and he produced some of his best jokes on that night. In 2007 Spade was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for his role as Russell Dunbar in "Rules Of Engagement".
