Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1967, Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu were married in a simple and traditional ceremony in Las Vegas. What was the date of their wedding?

Answer: May 1

Only fourteen people attended their double-ring ceremony which began at 9:41 a.m. at the Aladdin in Las Vegas. Elvis chose Joe Esposito and Marty Lacker (from his Memphis Mafia) as his dual best men, and Michelle, Priscilla's only sister, served as maid of honor. Nevada Supreme Court Judge David Zenoff performed the eight minute ceremony in which Elvis and Priscilla promised to "love, honor, cherish and comfort". "Obey", was not used. Elvis was 32 years old, and Priscilla was 21 years old when they married.
2. After a four day honeymoon in Palm Springs, California, Elvis brought his new bride to Circle G Ranch, a more private place he'd purchased in the south. Where was the ranch located?

Answer: Horn Lake, Mississippi

Named for Graceland, Circle G was five miles south of his estate in Memphis, just below the Mississippi state line. Elvis purchased the 163-acre ranch near Walls, Mississippi in February 1967. He had an eight foot cyclone fence installed around the property for the horses and cattle. This was Elvis' private get-a-way.
3. Elvis was known to rent the Memphian Theater and other places so he could take family and friends out at night. Where did he like to take Priscilla during the night?

Answer: The morgue

With his fame, it was difficult for Elvis to go out in public during the day. He basically had to create his own world. At Christmas time, he would pay stores to open in the early morning hours so he and his daughter, Lisa Marie, could shop for gifts.
4. Although Elvis had been described as having a heart of gold, he also had something else that was very difficult for Priscilla or anyone else around him to endure. What was it?

Answer: bad temper

It has been said that Elvis would be the sweetest person one day, and would burn holes in you with his eyes the next. Elvis was prankish by nature and everyone around him joked or played around to try to keep him loose. They did whatever it took to avoid getting his temper stirred up.

When Priscilla wanted to visit him on his movie sets more often in Vegas, Elvis would tell her he'd send her back to her parents. She eventually learned to deal with his moods.
5. Priscilla had suspicions that Elvis may be having affairs with some of his leading ladies. Which co-star telephoned Priscilla in Memphis and offered to give her a baby shower?

Answer: Nancy Sinatra

Nancy Sinatra co-starred in his movie, "Speedway" (1967) during Priscilla's pregnancy. Priscilla was taken back when this offer was made and she talked of her concerns to Elvis about it. Elvis denied any affair with Sinatra and stated that she wanted to do this for both of them.
6. Nine months to the day since Elvis and Priscilla were wed, their daughter was born. What was the name of the hospital where Lisa Marie was born?

Answer: Baptist Memorial Hospital

Priscilla began having labor pains and she and Elvis were driven to the hospital at 8:30 a.m. on February 1, 1968. Elvis had an extra car to follow close behind just in case the car they were in broke down. Lisa Marie was born at 5:01 p.m. weighing six pounds, 15 ounces. Since the fans swarmed to the hospital, Elvis had guards on duty outside Priscilla's room for her four day hospital stay.

She also had a closed circuit television placed nearby where she could have a round-the-clock view of the nursery.
7. Out of all of the women Elvis co-starred with, which one was Priscilla most threatened by?

Answer: Ann-Margret

Elvis and Ann-Margret were publicized more than any other of having an affair by the press. It was then Priscilla tried to visit Elvis in Las Vegas, and he had her stay in Memphis. This just made her suspicions even stronger. Ann-Margret even stated in an interview once that Elvis had given her an enormous bed, yet she neither confirmed nor denied having an affair with him.

She just left people wondering with a smile upon her face.
8. Before Elvis and Priscilla were married, she stayed at Graceland while he worked in Hollywood. He bought her a pet to keep her company. What was the pet and its name?

Answer: A poodle named Honey

Although school and Honey kept Priscilla busy, she still missed Elvis while he was away. Nothing could take the place of his absence. Elvis did have a chimpanzee named Scatter he had kept for a few years. They would dress him like a person and sit him at the bar. Scatter would bang his glass on it until someone poured bourbon in it. Needless to say, the chimpanzee would be drunk, get loose, and scare all the neighbors in Bel Air hills. Elvis finally had to get rid of him. Rising Sun was the name of Elvis' favorite horse at Graceland.
9. Elvis was furious when he discovered that Priscilla was having an affair with her martial arts instructor. Who was he?

Answer: Mike Stone

Mike Stone was an instructor in Chuck Norris' studio in California where Priscilla took lessons from him. She found solace in him and they began having an affair. Soon afterwards, Elvis and Priscilla went their separate ways.
10. In what year did Elvis and Priscilla divorce?

Answer: 1973

Elvis and Priscilla met in Memphis at the courthouse and were granted a divorce in 1973. At one point at the hearing, they held each other's hands. They shared custody of their daughter, Lisa Marie. It was after this that Elvis recorded his song, Separate Ways.

He also recorded, You Were Always On My Mind, soon after the divorce. But the one song that he nearly couldn't record was, "Don't Cry Daddy". This was a very emotional time for him and he began to decline. Four years later in August of 1977, Elvis Presley was dead.
