John William Carson (1925-2005) was famous for hosting "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson", in America for 30 years. He is a multi Emmy award winner actor.

Edward Regan Murphy (1961- ) is a stand-up comedian, actor, film director, producer and singer. This multi award winning actor is well known for his movie roles in "Beverly Hills Cop", "The Nutty Professor" and "Shrek", to name a few.

Nathan Birnbaum (1896-1996) was a comedian, actor and writer. This multi award winning actor starred in vaudeville, film, radio and television. During his stand-up comedy sketches he used a cigar as a prop, which remained as part of his act even in his 90s. George died at age 100 after a fall in his bathroom and a bout of the flu weakened him.

He is famous also for the movies "Oh, God" (1977) and "The Sunshine Boys". He married Gracie Allen and they were well known for their television show called "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show".

Ruth Buzzi (1936- ) is an actress and comedienne who has starred in theatre, film and television. She is well known for her role in the weekly comedy show called "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" (1968-1973). Later in her career she was a regular member of Dean Martin's "Celebrity Roasts".

Alfred Hawthorne Hill (1924-1992) was a comedian, actor and singer. He is best known for his television programme called "The Benny Hill Show" and its famous fast comedy skit at the end of each show. Hill started out as a milkman, bridge operator, driver, drummer and then assistant stage manager.

His favourite comedian was Jack Benny who influenced him to change his name. Hill worked in night clubs, theatres, and Masonic dinners, and even though he proposed to two women, he never married. In the 1990s he suffered heart trouble and renal failure, and he was found dead in an arm chair in front of his television.

He didn't like children, animals or women, but he was once married and had a son. Fields started out as a juggler and he noticed his popularity grow once he added humorous dialogue to his act.

He worked in radio, on the stage in "Ziegfeld Follies" and in many movies. Two of his movies include "You Can't Cheat An Honest Man" (1939) and "Never Give A Sucker An Even Break"(1941).

John Elroy Sandord (1922 - 1991) was a comedian and actor in films and television. He gained fame as a stand-up comedian in nightclubs and was one of the first black comics to play at the Las Vegas Strip. He starred in the American Sitcoms "Sanford And Son" and "The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour".

He was well known for his routine of faking a heart attack and calling out to his dead wife that "He was coming, Elizabeth". Unfortunately, during one of his shows he had a real heart attack and died that day aged 68 years old.

Some of his movies include "Harlem Nights" (1989) and "All The Fine Young Cannibals" (1960).

Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton (1895 - 1966) was an Academy Award winning comic actor and director whose signature costume was a suit and pork pie hat. He was well known for his deadpan facial expression, which was introduced by him as a young actor on stage.

He was part of a comedy act with his parents who would throw him around the stage as part of the performance. He decided to develop a deadpan facial expression after the audience showed their displeasure at his giggling whilst being thrown around. Nicknames attributed to him were "The Great Stone Face" and "The Michelangelo Of Silent Comedy".

The name "buster" was given to him by Harry Houdini himself who saw Keaton fall as a young six month old baby. Keaton is also well known for his slapstick silent films which include "The Playhouse" (1921) and "Cops" (1922).
