Born on 16th April 1889, Charlie Chaplin's career spanned six decades from from 1914 to 1967. He had a very full and varied life, from being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1975 to becoming a father at the age of 73. He won his first and only Oscar for the movie "Limelight" (1952).

He was nominated twice more for "Monsieur Verdoux" (1947) and " The Great Dictator" (1940). He died on Christmas day 1977.
