Charlie Chaplin died at the age of 88 at his estate in Switzerland. He was buried overlooking Lake Geneva but not for very long. In March 1978 his coffin with him in it was dug up and held at a ransom of $600,000. His widow, Oona, refused to pay but with police on her side the two men were captured and charged. Charlie is now buried in the small town cemetery of Corsier-Sur-Vevey, Switzerland, in a concrete vault.

A heavy smoker, Nat died at the age of 45. At his funeral, Jack Benny offered this epitaph: "Sometimes death is not as tragic as not knowing how to live. This man knew how to live and how to make others glad they were living."

In 1992 Audrey began to feel stomach pains. In November that year doctors conducted a laparoscopy surgery and found she had cancer that had spread from her appendix. The cancer had grown slowly over the course of several years, and metastasized not as a tumor, but as a thin encasing over her small intestine.

At the age of 63 Audrey died in the her chalet in Tolochenaz, Switzerland of colon cancer.

Whilst recording a new album Janis was staying in room 105 at the Landmark Hotel in Hollywood. After having a few drinks in the bar with a couple of friends she returned to her room and shot up on heroin. She was found dead the following day. The coroner ruled the 27 year old's death as accidental.

At Heavenly Ski Resort at around 14.00, Sonny skied off alone whilst his then wife, Mary, looked after their two children. This was the last time he was seen alive. At 19.00 his wife reported him missing. He was found dead of massive head injuries after hitting a tree in a section that was not considered closed off to skiers but was an unmaintained area.

The scene began and the dummy bullet was shot at Brandon, the actors continued with the scene not knowing that he had really been shot. Brandon died at the age of 28 and is buried in Seattle next to his father.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on 3rd January 1892. He died at the age of 81 and is buried in a cemetery in Wolvercote, England.

Charles is buried in the Poet's Corner of Westminster Abbey, although, it was his wish to be buried in the graveyard at Rochester Castle Moat. He lived in the village of Rochester for most of his life and at the graveyard, there is a simple plaque that reads "Charles Dickens wished to be buried here". He died at the age of 58.
