Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Cagney

Answer: Christine

"Cagney and Lacey" ran for six seasons in the 1980s, winning eleven Emmy awards, six for the two leads of the show. Christine Cagney was played as the tough no-nonsense sort of cop, from a mixed social background. Her police partner Lacey named her child, born in the fourth year of the show, Alice Christine.

The actress who played Cagney, Sharon Gless, went on to star in "The Trials of Rosie O'Neill", "Queer as Folk", and "Burn Notice".
2. Lacey

Answer: Mary Beth

Mary Beth Lacey was played by Tyne Daly on "Cagney and Lacey", and won four Emmy Awards for her performance. She was portrayed as the loud and extroverted sort of police officer, with a husband and three children, one of whom was born during the course of the series. Tyne Daly later went on to star in a major role in "Judging Amy".
3. Rizzoli

Answer: Jane

The series "Rizzoli & Isles" ran for six seasons from 2010 to 2016, and starred Angie Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, a homicide detective in the Boston police force. Her partner in the drama ("Isles") is a medical examiner and they combine forces to solve cases of murder. The actress Angie Harmon is probably best known for playing Abbie Carmichael, the ADA on "Law & Order".
4. Isles

Answer: Maura

Sasha Alexander played Maura Isles, the Chief Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, for seven seasons in "Rizzoli & Isles". Her role in the series is as the forensic examiner for the Boston police. This involves performing frequent autopsies on dead bodies in the morgue, a job which she seems to have no qualms about. Sasha Alexander also played Caitlin Todd in the first two seasons of "NCIS".
5. Fletcher

Answer: Jessica

Jessica Fletcher, played by the veteran actress Angela Lansbury, must be one of the most successful private detectives on television. Her show, "Murder She Wrote", ran for twelve seasons and for twelve straight years Angela Lansbury was nominated for an Emmy Award, unfortunately never winning. Jessica Fletcher was a retired English teacher and successful mystery writer, who was much better at solving homicides than the actual police investigators on the cases.
6. Beckett

Answer: Kate

Stana Katic plays Catherine (Kate) Beckett, a homicide detective with the New York City police force. She is paired with a mystery writer, Richard Castle (played by Nathan Filion), who consults with the homicide squad in solving cases. Much of the series concerned the relationship between the two principals.

She wanted little to do with him at first and accepted his help only under orders from the Mayor, but eventually realised that she has fallen for him, and they get married during the seventh season.
7. Anderson

Answer: Pepper

"Police Woman", which ran from 1974 to 1978, was one of the first hour-long drama series to feature a female lead. It is reported that its popularity caused a noticeable increase in women applying to law enforcement agencies. The lead role of Pepper Anderson was played by Angie Dickinson, but Pepper's first name was never firmly revealed. "Suzanne", "Leanne", and "Lee Ann" have all been suggested.
8. Duquesne

Answer: Calleigh

Emily Proctor played CSI Calleigh Duquesne on "CSI: Miami" in every season of the show's run and had the number two billing in the opening credits. She spoke with a distinctive Louisiana accent and was known for her expertise in firearms and bullets.

In the opening episode of season eight we have a flashback to her first day on the job. In the final year of the show she adopts two young children whose father has been sent to jail.
9. Prentiss

Answer: Emily

Paget Brewster has had an interesting time playing Emily Prentiss on the hit show "Criminal Minds". She was first insinuated into the team in season 2 by Assistant Director Erin Strauss to undermine their unit chief, Aaron Hotchner, whom Strauss saw as a potential career threat.

She was ostensibly killed in season 6, but the premiere of season 7 reveals that she survived and went into hiding. She returned briefly to the team for season 7, but moved to London to head up the Interpol office there.

In season 12 she returned as unit chief to replace Hotchner who, with his son, has gone into witness protection.
10. Benson

Answer: Olivia

"Law & Order SVU" made its debut in 2000 and became one of the longest-running drama series, and Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson has been with the show from the beginning. For the first twelve years she was partnered with Elliott Stabler and after his departure from the show became first a sergeant and finally a lieutenant and squad commander. Olivia Benson has also adopted an orphaned boy named Noah.

The actress Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of the actress Jayne Mansfield.
