Tippi Hedren is Melanie's famous mother, an accomplished actress best known for her Hitchcock performances in "Marnie" and "The Birds". Melanie is her only child.
Her father was Peter Atwill Griffith, who appeared on Broadway a few times as a child actor although his adult career was in advertising. Peter is the father of actress and chef Tracy Griffith, Melanie's half-sister.
