1. What hospital do the Stooges work at?

Answer: Los Arms

Two of the other answers refer to real hospitals, the other to TV's "St. Elsewhere". The pun signifies we're in Stoogeland again. Raymond McCarey directed and Felix Adler scripted this early short, from 1934.

2. Who's the head of the hospital where the Stooges work?

Answer: Dr. Graves

Why Dr. Graves (appropriate name!) doesn't go nuts from the Stooges' antics I don't know! I'm sure you know the other answers!

3. Why did they graduate from Medical school?

Answer: they spent too many years in senior class

What medical school would allow THESE morons? Only in Stoogeland! (Maybe they should've cheated; then they'd get get expelled!)

4. What do they usually destroy in the boss' office?

Answer: the glass door

They crash through the door exiting, Curly breaks it when he shuts it...heck, the sign painter even smashes it so they can rush in!

5. What form of transportation do they NOT use?

Answer: roller skates

They could also use pogo sticks! They rush into a storeroom and emerge on horseback, on a tandem bike and in racecars.

These wretched groaners pop up everywhere in a Stooges short! They take her temperature and make into a stock report! (punning on Colorado's Anaconda mine!)

7. Who plays the ditzy nurse with the Betty Boop voice?

Answer: Jennie Roberts

Questal was Betty's voice (patterned after singer Kane), but Roberts played the nurse whose whackiness drives even the Stooges nuts! She thinks a pippin is "an apple with the skin on the outside" and says she once saw one with the skin on the inside...in an apple pie! Later the boys sing an alpine song to her hiccups! Lamont, of "Singin' In The Rain", was played by Jean Hagen.

8. Who's the girl who sent a telegram (75 cents collect) to the boys?

Answer: Nellie

Nellie sent a note to the Stooges saying she'd marry the one who did the most "for Duty and Humanity" (the catchphrase throughout the short). When the telegram man asks for his pay, Larry flips a coin for it and the man loses. (He got suckered of course!)

9. Who does the little girl in bed turn out to be?

Answer: a midget

"Is she in a coma?" ask the Stooges. "I am not! I'm in a bed!" the homely midget retorts. Then, seeing the Stooges, squeaks "Gee, the joint is haunted!"

10. What room is the crazy patient in?

Answer: 81

Billy Gilbert plays the fruitcake, raving about rats coming out of his pajamas' buttonhole et al. Among his film work is his Mr. Pettibone in the Howard Hawks classic "His Girl Friday".

Jimmy Stewart saw Harvey the rabbit in the 50's comedy of the same name; pink elephants are the cliche vision of movie drunks (in the 1940s Disney feature "Dumbo" the title character gets drunk and his visions are a high point of the film). When Gilbert says he sees the bird a real parakeet lights on Moe's shoulder, scaring them all! The purple cow was popularized by Gellitt Burgess' famed quatrain.

Answer: the combination to a safe

Dr. Graves says there's valuable radium needed in his safe but he swallowed the combination. He balks at the Stooges operating on him, but they knock him out with mallets and perform anyway!

13. Though they are apparently successful, what do the Stooges leave in the boss?

When Dr. Graves gets up we hear the tools rattle inside him! The nurse helping them whispers throughout; when they ask her why they are whispering, she replies "I don't know about you, but I lost my voice asking for a raise!" Well might they leave their mazzuzahs inside the doctor, they were Jewish!

14. What do they do at the end?

Answer: destroy the intercom

Fed up with the constant calls of "Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard!" they rip the intercom to shreds before they find a vacuum tube still speaking. They shoot it and it gasps "Oh! They got me!"

15. "Men in Black" is the only Stooges short nominated for an Oscar.

Answer: True

It lost to "La Cucharacha", and no other Stooges short was ever nominated again.
