Hawn and Russell first met on the set of "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band" (1968). They acted together in "Overboard" (1987), which didn't do very well at the box office when it came out, but sold a tremendous number of both VHS tapes and DVDs. "Private Benjamin" (1980) was the movie that established Goldie Hawn as a major player in Hollywood (Kurt Russell had no role in the film). In her role in "Swing Shift" (1984) Goldie Hawn played a married woman who went to work in an airplane factory during World War II and Kurt Russell played the man she fell in love with.

In real life, Hawn had been married and divorced twice, with her second marriage producing her acting offspring Kate and Oliver Hudson. Russell had son Boston with actress Season Hubley. Hawn and Russell had a son together--Wyatt.

Answer: "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (2005)

This coupling has been splashed all over the tabloids for years. In "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" they played married contract killers. What didn't this story have? Brad was married to actress Jennifer Aniston when they met on the set. Angelina had one adopted child and had divorced actor Billy Bob Thornton.

They traveled around the world, adopting children--it seemed--in almost anyplace they landed their plane.

When Young returned to LA, she brought the infant, Judy, with her; and, the little girl was a dead ringer for Gable. Judy Lewis wrote a book about her mother and Clark Gable; she knew Gable was her father, although she only met him a few times.
Gable had a long-term on-and-off affair with Crawford, when they were between relationships. Colbert was his co-star in "It Happened One Night" (1934), which took all five of the top Oscars. And, of course, Vivian Leigh was his co-star in what is considered one of the best movies of all-time: "Gone With The Wind" (1939).

Answer: Roberto Rossellini

After leaving her husband, Dr. Peter Lindstrom, and their young daughter, Pia, she gave birth to her son, Roberto Rossellini, Jr. in February 1950. She and Rossellini didn't marry until May 1950. It was a major scandal in the middle of the 20th century.

It simply wasn't done. In May 1952 she had twin daughters, Isotta and Isabella, the later of whom followed her mother and became an actress. Bergman and Rossellini divorced in November 1957.

Hedren was quoted in later years that since she liked Johnson, she didn't object to his relationship with her daughter.
Griffith's marital on-set conquests: First came Johnson, whom she married in 1976 and divorced a year later. Then came actor Steven Bauer, whom she met on the set of the TV movie "She's in the Army Now" (1981). After they divorced, she re-married Johnson. Then, while still married to Johnson, she met Antonio Banderas on the set of "Two Much" (1995). She divorced Johnson and married him. Griffith had a child with each of her three husbands.

Cheyenne Brando, who was named after the Native American tribe by her father, hung herself in a small building near her mother's home in Tahiti. She was suffering so deeply from mental illness that she was never supposed to be left alone.

The Burtons starred together in all four of these films. But, at the time it was released, Cleopatra was a box office disaster of epic proportions, nearly sinking 20th Century Fox, the studio that released it. In 1963, it cost Fox $44 million--and the movie had an interesting distinction: while it was the highest-grossing movie of 1963, earning $26 million, it was also the biggest money loser in the history of Hollywood at that time.
Their other three films together received widespread praise, particularly "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" (1966) for which both received Oscar nominatons.
Their wildly passionate relationship played out in public through their first marriage, that lasted 10 years and their re-marriage 16 months later, which lasted barely nine months. The relationship featured blistering public fights and equally explosive public reconciliations, punctuated by his purchase for her of some of the most famous jewels in the world. Burton died in 1984 at the age of 58 from a cerebral hemorrhage. Taylor, who married two more times after her second divorce from Burton, says he was the great love of her life.

Sarandon and Robbins were together for 23 years, before very quietly splitting up in the summer of 2009. They had two sons together, and raised them together with Sarandon's daughter from a previous relationship. Both stars won Oscars during their relationship. She won a Best Actress Oscar for "Dead Man Walking" (1995) and he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for "Mystic River" (2003).

Cruise's wife number two was, of course, Nicole Kidman. After they divorced, both remarried. Cruise married the much younger actress Katie Holmes. And Kidman married a fellow Australian--country music singer Keith Urban.

Ryan's husband, actor Dennis Quaid, remarried. He and his wife Kimberly had twins via a surrogate mother. The twins nearly died after receiving one thousand times the normal dose of heparin, a blood-thinning drug, while still in the hospital. They recovered.
