Answer: Agatha Christie

"The Man in the Brown Suit" was one of Christie's earlier novels, released in 1924. The heroine, Anne Beddingfield, didn't appear in any other novels. This is the first novel where the character Colonel Race appears.

With the five hundred pounds that Agatha received for the first publication of this book she purchased her first car - a Morris Cowley.
2. Which "Harry Potter" cast member graduated with a degree in English Literature from Brown University?

Answer: Emma Watson

Emma Watson played Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" films. She was born in 1990 in Paris to English parents, and was only 9 when cast in the first film.

Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island is one of America's Ivy League schools. Watson started her studies there in 2009, but took time off in 2011 to go back to acting. After taking two semester off, she went back to Brown and finally graduated in 2014.

In October of 2011 during her break from Brown University, she enrolled at Oxford University to read English as a visiting student.
3. In the comic strip "Peanuts", who is Charlie Brown's little sister?

Sally was born in the "Peanuts" comic strip in May of 1959. She didn't actually appear in the strip however until August of that year.

She took her first steps a year later in August of 1960 and her first day of kindergarten was in September of 1962. Sally wasn't the best student, often needing help from Charlie to do her homework, which usually resulted in Charlie doing the homework for her.

One interesting story line from 1965 saw her diagnosed with a lazy eye (amblyopia ex anopisa), and she had to wear an eye patch. This eye patch often went missing when Snoopy wanted to play pirates.
4. In the television show "Murphy Brown" what is the name of the fictional television news magazine where the main characters work?

Answer: FYI

"Murphy Brown" ran for ten seasons starting in 1988. It starred Candice Bergen as Murphy, an investigative reporter on FYI with a direct, sarcastic nature. Her hard hitting style made her a leader in her field, but it also tended to alienate people.

The show was known for making fun of politicians and many stories were based on current events. During season four the major story arc was Murphy falling pregnant. The child's father didn't want to be a part of it, so Murphy decided to have the child and raise it as a single mother. The current Vice President of the USA at the time, Dan Quayle, mentioned it in a campaign speech, criticising the character. This started a national discussion on family values during the 1992 US election campaign.

In the final season Murphy underwent treatment for Breast Cancer. Candice Bergen received an award from the American Cancer Society for helping to educate women about the issue.
5. In the original "Trivial Pursuit" game, one of the wedges was brown. Which category did this represent?

Trivial Pursuit was conceived by two Canadians; Chris Haney and Scott Abbott in 1979. However it wasn't originally released until 1981-1982. This first edition is now known as the Genus edition, and it had questions broken up into different areas based on a particular colour wedge. The wedges in this release had Arts and Literature as brown, Geography as blue, Entertainment as pink, History as yellow, Science and Nature as green and Sports and Leisure as orange. Arts and Literature in recent years has become purple.

Many other Genus and special additions have since been made. There have been special movie editions such as "Lord of the Rings", ones for children, ones for special time periods (1980s, 1990s), even ones just for sports.
6. "Sister Sarah Brown" is one of the lead characters in which musical?

Answer: Guys and Dolls

Guys and Dolls is a musical that first premiered on Broadway in 1950. The music and lyrics were written by Frank Loesser and the book written by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.

It won the Tony award for best musical in 1951.

The musical is based on short stories written by Damon Runyan in the 1920s and 1930s, and set in Manhatten. It revolves around a bet made between characters Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterton, both heavy gamblers. Sky has to take Sister Sarah Brown, a missionary trying to save the soles of sinners, to dinner in Havana, Cuba. Of course Nathan has problems of his own, with his girlfriend of 14 years, Adelaide, pushing to get married.

There have been many productions of the musical over the years, and it was made into a film in 1955 starring Frank Sinatra as Nathan and Marlon Brando as Sky.
7. "Mrs Brown", also released as "Her Majesty, Mrs Brown", is a 1997 film starring Judy Dench as Queen Victoria. Which Scotsman plays the role of John Brown, her servant?

Dame Judy Dench received an Academy Award nomination, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe award for her performance as Queen Victoria in this movie. It is set a year or so after the death of Prince Albert when Queen Victoria is still in heavy mourning and greatly depressed.
John Brown had been a servant to Prince Albert and he was asked to see if he could help Queen Victoria through her grief, to see if she could resume her public life.

The pair become close and the film details the reactions of those in her household, her family and the public reaction. The film doesn't suggest an improper relationship, but there was public speculation that their relationship was more than monarch/servant.

Billy Connolly plays a straight role in this film, and he received a BAFTA nomination and a Screen Actors Guild nomination for his portrayal of John.
8. In which video game franchise do you find "Brown Orcs"?

Answer: World of Warcraft

"World of Warcraft" was released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment, and it is classed as a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). This means anyone with an account can access the game online, at any time and thousands can play at once.

To access the game players usually have to pay a subscription and select a realm to inhabit. There are different types of realms depending on the players liking for roleplaying, player versus player combat, doing quests and fighting monsters, of which the Brown Orc is one.
9. "Golden Brown" was a song released in 1981-82 by which group?

Answer: The Stranglers

The Stranglers are a British band that started out in 1974, and are still making music in 2017. As of May 2017 they have released 17 studio albums, that doesn't include their compilation and live albums.

Golden Brown was off the album "La Folie" which was released in 1981. It was the second single released from the album, reaching number two on the UK singles chart and making number ten in Australia.

There has always been controversy surrounding the song. Hugh Cornwell, the band member who wrote the lyrics, stated originally that the song was about a Mediterranean girl he was dating who had golden brown skin. Over the years the accusations persisted that the song was about heroin. In 2001 Hugh finally admitted it was about both.

The song has had many covers over the years, and has been used in two films.

Derren Brown is an Englishman, born in London in 1971.

Derren is a mentalist and illusionist. He is a magician that appears to perform extraordinary feats, to demonstrate exceptional mental powers, which he uses to entertain his audience. His official website calls it "psychological manipulation".

He started working in television in 2000 doing three, hour long specials called "Mind Control". This became a six episode series the following year. He continued to do these series up until 2011. He has also done many one hour specials for television.

Some of the set ups on his television specials include picking the numbers in the national lottery, convincing a person who had a fear of flying to get on a plane and take the controls when the pilot was ill, he convinces a group of elderly citizens to steal a well known painting, and hypnotised a man to try to assassinate Stephen Fry.

His first major stage show tour was in 2003/2004 and in 2017 he is still performing on stage. The shows are usually sell outs.

He has done cameo work in various television shows, he has written books and he also paints portraits.
