Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whose life was TVs "Dave's World" based on?

Answer: Dave Barry

Syndicated newspaper humor columnist Dave Barry inspired the TV sitcom "Dave's World" (1993-1997) about a father (Harry Anderson) who worked at home while dealing with his wife and kids.
2. Which of these Disney movies was made earlier than the other three listed?

Answer: Son of Flubber

"Son of Flubber" (1963) was the sequel to "The Absent-Minded Professor" about a man who invented flubber (flying rubber). Over thirty years later a remake of "The Absent-Minded Professor" was made which was called "Flubber" (1997), so the odd fact is that "Son of Flubber" was made before "Flubber". "The Monkey's Uncle" and "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" were other Disney movies involving people at college inventing things.
3. Arthur Lake starred in what sitcom based on a series of movies?

Answer: Blondie

After doing twenty-eight movies about Blondie and Dagwood between 1938 and 1950, Arthur Lake starred as Dagwood in the TV sitcom "Blondie" in the 1950s. They were all based on a comic strip still syndicated all over the world in various newspapers about a husband and wife, his boss, dog, their neighbors, and children.
4. In the movie "Gus", who or what was Gus?

Answer: Mule

In the Disney comedy movie "Gus", California Atoms football team owner, Hank (Ed Asner) hired a mule to kick a football for the halftime show. He decided to let the mule kick field goals to score points, because the rule book said nothing against hiring animals to play football. (Really? With that reasoning they could've used gorillas for football players, or a kangaroo could have carried the football in a pouch.)
5. In which movie did Dagwood almost shoot Blondie?

Answer: Blondie's Hero (1950)

In "Blondie's Hero" (1950) Dagwood joined the army reserve. When he was shooting at targets during training, Blondie arrived to visit. Daisy, their dog, ran out into the target area, so Blondie ran out there to get the dog while the soldiers were shooting at the targets. Dagwood didn't know Blondie was out there, and he almost shot her.
6. In what TV show did Niles say, "Try to park facing downhill"?

Answer: Frasier

After the car broke down, Frasier, Niles, and their father rode in a cab driven by a pregnant woman whose water broke. Someone suggested she should pull over. Niles said, "Try to park facing downhill." Frasier's dad, an ex cop, helped to deliver the baby.
7. In "Beware of Blondie" a married couple saw Dagwood at a restaurant with an attractive woman. The husband told his wife, "If you breathe a word of this to Blondie, I'll ____________" Fill in the blank.

Answer: Knock your brains out

Dagwood had a hard time sleeping one night. Early in the morning the trash collectors made a terrible racket, so Dagwood stuck his head out the window and shouted for them to be quiet. A neighbor stuck his head out his window and told Dagwood to stop shouting.

Then the neighbor's wife told her husband to shut up, and they had an argument. The next day the neighbor and his wife were eating at a restaurant when they saw Dagwood with an attractive woman. The neighbor's wife said it looked like Dagwood was cheating, and the neighbor said, "If you breathe a word of this to Blondie, I'll knock your brains out!"
8. In the TV show "Mr. Ed", who or what was Mr. Ed?

Answer: A talking horse

"Mr. Ed" was a TV series about a man named Wilbur who bought property that came with a barn and a horse. The horse talked to Wilbur, but would not speak to Wilbur's wife or the neighbors or anyone, except on the phone. It seemed like Wilbur could've kept the horse from causing so much trouble if he removed the phone from the barn.
9. In "Blondie Hits the Jackpot" Dagwood was brought home after an accident at a construction site. What did Alexander say when he saw Dagwood?

Answer: Pop's plastered

Alexander Bumstead, Dagwood's son, saw his dad covered with plaster which was accidentally dumped on Dagwood when Dagwood stood in the wrong place at the construction site. Dagwood had been fired again, and this time he worked for a competing construction company until he discovered they were using shoddy materials which would soon fall apart.
10. In which movie were people attacked by a giant burning marshmallow?

Answer: Ghostbusters

In "Ghostbusters" the men used weapons which shot laser beams intending to trap ghosts. However, when they first shot Zuul, they were hoping the laser beams would send it away, but it didn't. The spirit decided to punish them by making a monster out of whatever they thought of. Ray happened to think of the advertisement character, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, who materialized into a giant man made of marshmallow.

This didn't seem dangerous until they shot it with lasers. The laser beams set the marshmallow on fire, making it angry and creating hot flames which shot up the side of the building at them.
