Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The adventure began with the arrival of a Gaulish chief to the village; what was his name?

Answer: Whosemoralsarelastix

Vitalstatistix doesn't think too highly of his counterpart primarily because the latter is known as a person who will do anything for money. Whosemoralsarelastix's village is located on top of a cliff.
2. This Gaulish chief wants to entrust with Vitalstatistix a cauldron full of money. Before the cauldron was filled with money, the Gaulish chief says that the cauldron was used for making something. What?

Answer: Onion Soup

Of course, all this is a big mystery for Obelix - why would anyone throw out Onion soup just to fill money in the cauldron?
3. The cauldron is handed to Asterix for safe-keeping. That night, while everyone else is at the banquet, Asterix is keeping watch. Who brings Asterix food?

Answer: Whosemoralsarelastix

Obelix was supposed to take the food to Asterix but Whosemoralsarelastix offered to take the food to Asterix. Obelix was more than willing to oblige; after all he had to finish the boars!
4. The next day when Asterix checks the cauldron - it's empty! Despite an extensive search in the village, nothing is recovered. As punishment, Asterix is banished from the village. Who accompanies him?

Answer: Obelix and Dogmatix

Obelix and Dogmatix (Obelix's dog) follow Asterix; of course Obelix still wants the cauldron to filled with onion soup!
5. Suspect Number One was the nearest Roman camp. What was the name of that camp?

Answer: Compendium

Compendium is one of the four Roman camps surrounding the village. Of course, they know trying to capture the village is no use as long as Getafix and his magic portion exist!
6. Suspect Number two are the poor pirates. After losing so many ships, they decided to convert a wrecked ship into a restaurant. Only they didn't know that Asterix and company were paying them a visit. What did the pirates call their restaurant?

Answer: The Pirate on the Rocks

Asterix and Obelix ensured that there was no restaurant left standing after they left. Obelix was angry that a pirate tricked him (regarding Chestnut stuffing).
7. Realising that there were not getting any closer to finding the culprit, they decided to make some money and fill the cauldron. They decide to sell boars at the local market. Where was the market located?

Answer: Condatum

Condatum had a busy market; they soon get a place to sell their goods.
8. Not knowing how much to sell their stock at, they took the first offer that comes their way - 14 boars for 5 Sestertii. This shocked the living daylights of the boar seller next door. What was his name?

Answer: Antibiotix

Asterix had 14 boars with him - all of them sold for 5 Sestertii. Since they were also feeling hungry, they decided to buy a boar from Antibiotix, who incidentally charged 5 Sestertii for one boar. At the end of the day, Obelix didn't understand 'business' one bit!
9. After a series of other misadventures (attempts at filling the cauldron), they decide to rob the tax Collector. After robbing him (and beating the living daylights of his entourage), they leave. On the way to the Gaulish chief, they realize that it was the same money which the Chief had entrusted to them. How did they figure that out?

Answer: Smell of the coins

The coins smelt like onion soup - the coins handed to them for safe custody was placed in a cauldron (which was used for making onion soup). Before robbing the Tax Collector, they decided to become gladiators, actors, bank-robbers, gamblers (betting on horse races)-all these in an effort to fill the cauldron with money.
10. Who gets the money in the end?

Answer: The Pirates

This is the only book in which the pirates get some reward for their 'efforts'. While Asterix and Whosemoralsarelastix are fighting, the cauldron with money falls down the cliff. However by some strange fate, the pirates were sailing past the cliff at the same time and they get the money! Of course, the adventure and all problems were solved except one.
'Why anyone would put money in that cauldron instead of onion soup in the first place' (Obelix)
