Bruce Hart took over after the sale of Stampede Wrestling to the WWE fell through. His brother, Ross Hart, began helping him in 1999.

Answer: 1984

The over powering state of WWE was more than Stampede Wrestling, and many other independant organizations could stand, and they were forced to close their doors in 1984, when Vince McMahon bought the organization. It reopened in 1985.
