The Silver Age version of the character regained prominence in the eighties as a part of the humorous version of the Justice League. The character's newest incarnation premiered during the events of the Infinite Crisis, after Ted Kord was murdered.

Roger Winkle became the Captain Marvel of the lamentable M.F. Enterprises comics group in the sixties, which was known for trademark infringement on a grand scale (Captain Marvel, Dr. Doom, and Dr. Fate were just some of the names they 'appropriated' for their characters). Monica Rambeau was the second person to adopt the identity of Captain Marvel over at Marvel Comics, keeping the trademark alive until she assumed the identity of Photon.
