He had a number one hit for one week on the US pop chart with "Ringo" in 1964. It reached number 22 on the UK chart the same year. A native of Canada, he was honoured in 2006 by being featured on a Canadian postage stamp.

He acted almost exclusively on TV in his later career but still starred in movies such as "The Private Files Of J. Edgar Hoover" with James Wainwright and in their final movie appearances Dan Dailey and Jack Cassidy.

Ernest Borgnine (born 24 Jan 1917) won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Marty Pilletti in "Marty" (1955) with Betsy Blair and Joe Mantell.

Pat Hingle (died 3 Jan 2009 aged 84) was to play Elmer Gantry (Burt Lancaster got the part) in the 1960 movie of the same name but fell over 50ft down the elevator shaft in his apartment block in New York. He was near death and took over a year to recover. He played Judge Fenton in "Hang 'Em High" (1968) with Clint Eastwood and played Police Commissioner Gordon in the first four of the new series of "Batman" movies (1989-1997).

Sean Connery (born 25 Aug 1930) another Knight, played James Bond in seven movies (1962-1971) and (1983). He played Welder #2 in the UK movie "Time Lock" (1957) with Robert Beatty and Lee Paterson. In between playing Bond he made two of his best movies "The Hill" (1965) with Ian Bannen and Ossie Davies & "The Offence" (1973) with Ian Bannen and Trevor Howard.
George Lazenby (born 5 Sep 1939) played James Bond in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969), enough said.
Timothy Dalton (born 21 Mar 1946) played James Bond in two movies "The Living Daylights" (1987) and "Licence To Kill" (1989). He played Prince Rupert in "Cromwell" (1970) with Sir Alec Guinness and Richard Harris, Prince Barin in "Flash Gordon" (1980) with Max von Sydow and Brian Blessed and Alexei Volkoff in the US TV series "Chuck" season four (2010).

Elisha Cook Jr. (Hollywood's lightest heavy, died 18 May 1995 - aged 91) appeared in his first movie "Her Unborn Child" (1930) and has been stabbed poisoned or shot to death in countless movies since. Besides "Star Trek" and "Magnum, P. I." he has appeared in other TV series such as "Quincy, M. E.", "The Untouchables", "Gunsmoke" and "Batman" to name but a few.

Anthony Caruso (died 4 Apr 2003 aged 86) played safe cracker Louis Ciavelli in "The Asphalt Jungle" with Sterling Hayden and Sam Jaffe (1950).
Barton MacLane (died 1 Jan 69 aged 66) played police Lt. Dundy in "The Maltese Falcon" with Humphrey Bogart and Ward Bond (1941).
John McIntire (died 30 Jan 1991 aged 83) played Police Commissioner Hardy in "The Asphalt Jungle" with Sterling Hayden and Jean Hagen (1950), he replaced Ward Bond in the US TV western series "Wagon Train" (1957-1965) after Bond's death in 1960 aged 57.

Don Ameche (died 6 Dec 1993 - aged 84) had his heyday in the '30s & '40s but unlike a lot of actors from that time he didn't fade away, he just kept going. He was still making popular movies into the '90s and starring with actors that were not even born when he was a matinee idol. His last movie "Corina Corina" was finished just days before his death.

Hume Cronyn (died 15 Jun 2003 aged 91) had been making movies since the '30s. He starred with his wife actress Jessica Tandy (died 11 Sep 1994 aged 85) and Don Ameche in "Cocoon" (1985) and "Cocoon: The Return" (1988). He played Juror #9 in the TV movie "12 Angry Men" (1997).
Ralph Bellamy (died 29 Nov 1991 aged 87) another actor with a long movie career from 1931 to 1990. He stared with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell in the movie "His Girl Friday" (1940), "Trading Places" (1983) with Don Ameche and Eddie Murphy and his last movie "Pretty Woman" (1990) with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.
Kirk Douglas (born 9 Dec 1916) one of the best actors never to win an Oscar. Starred in the movie "Lust For Life" (1956) with Anthony Quinn (who did win the Oscar), the movie "Gunfight At The O.K. Corral" (1957) with Burt Lancaster and the movie "Oscar" with Don Ameche and Sylvester Stallone (1991).
