"The Ghost Writer" is a 2010 film directed by Roman Polanski and starring Pierce Brosnan, Ewan McGregor, and Kim Cattrall. Based upon the Robert Harris novel, "The Ghost," this political thriller focuses on a British ghostwriter (Ewan McGregor) who is recruited to write the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan). During the writing of the memoirs, Lang (the Prime Minister) is assassinated and it is discovered that Lang's wife was in fact an undercover CIA agent working for the Americans. "Ghost" was a 1990 movie starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg.

In this movie, Patrick Swayze plays a man who is murdered by his partner and who returns as a ghost to exact his revenge and save his love. "Ghost Rider" was released in 2007 and features Nicholas Cage as stunt rider Johnny Blaze who sells his soul to the devil to become a crime fighter of sorts battling the forces of darkness. Finally, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" is a 2009 movie starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner.

The film is loosely based on the theme of Dickens "A Christmas Carol." McConaughey's character is a womanizer who meets his childhood sweetheart at a wedding and is taught some life lessons by a series of ghostly girlfriends from his past, present and future.

William Shakespeare seems to really have enjoyed bringing ghostly characters to life on stage. A big fan of the supernatural, Shakespeare used ghosts and witches to good effect in plays such as "Macbeth" and "Cymbeline." "Julius Caesar" also appears as a ghost in the play of the same name.

"Ghost Adventures" first aired in October 2008 and was the brainchild of Zac Bagans and Nick Groff. Their team journeys to locations across the United States and Europe investigating possible haunted buildings. The team has also been to Jamaica and Canada. Using hi-tech equipment such as digital thermometers, electromagnetic field meters, infrared devices, and video recording cameras, the investigators lock themselves in buildings overnight and attempt to capture evidence of paranormal activity.
