Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where might you go if you wanted to get a '$5 shake' in "Pulp Fiction"?

Answer: Jack Rabbit Slim's

In the 1994 film "Pulp Fiction", Vince (John Travolta) and Mia (Uma Thurman) go to Jack Rabbit Slim's, a 1950s-themed restaurant in California where they order from their waiter, Buddy Holly, and Mia has a 'Durwood Kirby Burger' (see Garry Moore for details) and a '$5 shake' before they wind up on the dance floor doing the twist during a dance competition. Joe's Pie Diner is from the movie "Waitress"; Mr. Smiley's is from "American Beauty", and Pizza Planet appears in "Toy Story".
2. What is the name of the Latin-themed night club on "I Love Lucy"?

Answer: Tropicana

Ricky Ricardo was a Cuban bongo drummer who moved to New York City and got a job as a headliner for the 'Club Tropicana' where he became the permanent bandleader with his signature song "Babalu". In 1956, after years of incredible success, for some strange reason, the Ricardos, along with Fred and Ethel Mertz, decide to move to Connecticut to raise chickens. I guess they flew the coop and 'jumped the shark' at about the same time.
3. On Tatooine in "Star Wars", what is the name of the cantina described as "a wretched hive of scum and villainy"?

Answer: Mos Eisley

At the Mos Eisley Spaceport, you could find the Mos Eisley Cantina (also known as the Star Wars Cantina) which was formerly named The Chalmun's Cantina. The tavern was known for its powerful drinks, hot tunes and occasional violence, and you might find Hans Solo there trying to hire a crew. The original Cantina Band could be found in "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" (1977).
4. Where would the residents of Stars Hollow often go to eat?

Answer: Luke's Diner

On the "Gilmore Girls" (2000-2007), Lorelai, played by Lauren Graham, and Rory, played by Alexis Bledel, are known to have hung out at Luke's Diner, often exchanging witty dialogue. It is owned by Luke Danes whose "No Cell Phones" policy is strictly enforced (how refreshing!).

The diner is where Lorelai asked Luke to marry her (oops - spoiler alert?). While the other choices were characters on the show, they did not own their eponymous eateries.
5. Which restaurant would Phil Connors, i.e., Bill Murray, wind up eating in day after same day on February 2nd?

Answer: Tip Top Cafe

In "Groundhog's Day", a 1993 comedy starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, weatherman Phil Connors is forced to live the same day over and over until he gets it right! At first Phil decides to take advantage of the fact that there are no consequences, e.g., ordering all the junk food from the Tip Top Cafe, but as days (or rather day) keep going by, he learns to improve himself and care about others.

The Hog's Head is a pub in the "Harry Potter" series; the Admiral Benbow is from "Treasure Island", and the Horse and Groom can be found in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
6. On which show could you have 'loose-meat' sandwiches at the Lanford Lunch Box?

Answer: Roseanne

In 1992, on the television sitcom "Roseanne" (1988-1997), Roseanne Conner and her sister, Jackie Harris, pooled their money to became the proprietors of a coffee shop that specialized in loose-meat sandwiches. The real-life inspiration for the Lanford Lunch Box was a loose meat sandwich restaurant called 'The Canteen', located in Ottumwa, Iowa, while the fictional 'Lunch Box' was in Lanford, Illinois but filmed in Evansville, Indiana.
7. What was the name of the eatery in the movie "Office Space"?

Answer: Chotchkie's

Remember Chotchkie's from the movie "Office Space" (1999)? Joanna (played by Jennifer Aniston) worked at the theme style restaurant which required all their employees to wear a minimum of 15 pieces of 'flair' (basically buttons with different pictures and captions, but if you haven't seen the movie, see for yourself).

As for the other choices, The Raven was from "Raiders of the Lost Ark"; St. Elmo's Bar was, of course, from St. Elmo's Fire, and the El Jefe Food Truck comes from the 2014 movie "Chef" starring Jon Favreau.
8. On which sitcom did one of the protagonists work as a waitress at 'The Cheesecake Factory'?

Answer: The Big Bang Theory

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting plays the role of Penny (whose last name is yet to be revealed), neighbor to the physicists Leonard and Sheldon. She is an aspiring actress who earned a living by waitressing at The Cheesecake Factory; she is not known as the best waitress and some people are still waiting for their orders.

She is also trying her hand at being a pharmaceutical representative. In case you were wondering, the residents of "Roswell" chowed down at the Crashdown Cafe; on "Beverly Hills, 90210" they hung out at the Peach Pit and Mel's Diner was featured on "Alice".
9. What movie would you watch to find the restaurant known as 'Rick's Cafe Americain'?

Answer: Casablanca

Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) owns a night club in Casablanca in the movie "Casablanca" (1942). Set against a World War II backdrop, he meets up with an old flame, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), who is in town with her husband, Victor Laszlo, a known rebel against the German war machine. Will Rick help them get out of the country? Will he wind up with Ilsa? Will he become friends with Captain Louis Renault? Will he again be misquoted as saying "play it again Sam"? I'll never tell!
10. On "Twin Peaks" what is the name of the diner where you could get cherry pie and a "damn fine cup o' coffee"?

Answer: Double R Diner

FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) travels to "Twin Peaks" (1990-1991) to help solve the murder of high school student Laura Palmer. He and Sheriff Harry S. Truman would often find themselves chatting over coffee and pie at the Double R Diner.

This David Lynch directed show set the standard for odd characters, weird dream sequences, and a surrealistic style where nothing was what it seemed to be. The incorrect choices are also famous in their own right, with Los Pollos Hermanos from "Breaking Bad"; "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" could be found at The Bronze, and Monk's Cafe was the backdrop for many an episode of "Seinfeld".
