Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Drogan, Viserion, and Rhaegal are the three dragons hatched by Daenerys Targaryen in what book series by author George R. R. Martin?

Answer: A Song of Ice and Fire

"A Song of Ice and Fire" was adapted to a television series called "Game of Thrones" that premiered on HBO in 2011. Author George R. R. Martin is heavily involved in the series, serving as a co-executive producer and contracted to write one episode per season. In the first season, Martin wrote the eighth episode, "The Pointy End".

"The Song of Flame and Thunder" was the working title for "The Kingkiller Chronicle", a series by Patrick Rothfuss. The title was changed to avoid confusion with Martin's work.
2. What is the name of the five-headed "Queen of Evil Dragonkind" in the "Dungeons and Dragons" role playing game?

Answer: Tiamat

Tiamat first appeared in the 1975 "Greyhawk" game supplement, and has made many appearances across the different versions of Dungeons and Dragons, including the animated television series (1983-1985). Normally, Tiamat has five heads, each a different color (red, green, blue, black, and white) with the abilities matching that of the corresponding chromatic dragon.

Tiamat is named for a Babylonian chaos-goddess of the ocean.
3. Which giant green dragon was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first appeared in "Strange Tales" #89 (1961) from Marvel Comics, and sometimes wears purple shorts?

Answer: Fin Fang Foom

Fin Fang Foom is actually an alien from Kakaranathara in the Maklu system that arrived in ancient China to conquer the planet.

A 2008 Marvel Legends series of action figures based on Hulk characters contained a Build A Figure toy Fin Fang Foom.

In "Fin Fang Four" (2005), a human sized Fin Fang Foom tries to become a productive member of society alongside Elektro (a robot), Googam (an alien), and Gorgilla (a giant ape).
4. What one-toothed dragon made his television debut in 1947?

Answer: Oliver J. Dragon

Oliver J. Dragon is the full name of Ollie, from "Kukla, Fran and Ollie" (1947-1957).

Fran Allison was the human actress that interacted with the puppets Kukla and Ollie, both performed by Burr Tillstrom. Unscripted and adlibbed, the show premiered as "Junior Jamboree" in 1947 but was renamed a year later.
5. What is the name of the dragon voiced by Sean Connery in the 1996 movie "Dragonheart"?

Answer: Draco

"Dragonheart" (1996) is the story of a dragon that saves a prince's life by sharing its heart with him. Hunted to near extinction, the last dragon and the last dragon hunter form an alliance, teaming up to con villagers out of their gold for bogus dragon hunting.

The incorrect answers for this question are all taken from other roles performed by Sean Connery: Maj. Gen. Roy Urquhart in 1975's "A Bridge Too Far", King Agamemnon in 1981's "Time Bandits", and Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez in 1986's "Highlander".
6. Eddie Murphy provided the voice for which dragon in the 1998 Disney movie "Mulan"?

Answer: Mushu

"Mulan" (1998) is based on the Chinese story of Hua Mulan, and is the story of a girl pretending to be a man to go to war against the Huns.

Early in development, Mulan was going to have two reptilian sidekicks. This evolved to a two-headed dragon and then into the current film version of Mushu.

While Eddie Murphy voiced Mushu in the original movie, subsequent appearances were voiced by Mark Moseley.
7. Which dragon appears as part of a ventriloquist act performed by Ronn Lucas?

Answer: Scorch

Scorch had his own self-titled sitcom in 1992 which was cancelled after only three of the six episodes were aired. On the show, Scorch was a real dragon that pretended to be a ventriloquist dummy. Ronn Lucas voiced Scorch but did not appear on camera.
8. What dragon is a friend to Kitty Pryde of the X-Men?

Answer: Lockheed

Lockheed is a dragon-like alien that first appeared in "Uncanny X-Men" #166 (1983).

Despite years of never talking, Lockheed spoke to Kitty Pryde's then-boyfriend Peter Wisdom to antagonize him. It was later revealed that Lockheed can speak many languages and was secretly working for S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department), an agency that deals with alien threats.
9. Sparx the dragonfly helps which video game dragon?

Answer: Spyro

"Spyro the Dragon" debuted on the PlayStation in 1998 and quickly became a popular character, appearing in several different games on different platforms. Sparx, Spyro's dragonfly companion, acted as a health meter, displaying varying colors when Spyro was injured.
