Lex Luger was the NWA U.S. Champion, when WCW broke away from the NWA on January 1, 1991. He was then named the WCW U.S. Champion.
2. Rick Rude defeated Sting for the WCW U.S. Title on November 19, 1991. Who became the champion after the belt was vacated when Rude was injured?

Answer: Dustin Rhodes

Dustin Rhodes became the champion on January 11, 1993, after winning a tournament to crown a new champion.
