The Punisher was originally slated to be a one shot villain. He was created as a puppet of the Jackal, and was due to be defeated at the end of his one issue. However, Gerry Conway, the writer who created him liked the character. In his words, "The character voice was stronger than I thought, so I made him more man than I had planned him to be". Punisher has gone on to have several editions of his own series, as well as two motion pictures made about him.

The first was released in 1989 starring Dolph Lundgren, and the second in 2004 starring Thomas Jane.
4. Quack! I'm an unlikely hero, that's for sure. That's probably why my adventures take place in the unlikely city of Cleveland. On my home planet, I'm really nothing special. I made my debut in one of Marvel's monster comics in "Adventures into Fear" #19 with the Man-Thing. I got my own title in 1976. Oh yeah, I'm also a master of quack fu. So, have you figured out who I am yet?

Answer: Howard The Duck

Howard The Duck became a cult favorite comic. Created and written by Steve Gerber, it also was one of the first "creator's rights" cases in the comics industry, which led to homage characters like Destroyer Duck and Stewart the Rat. Howard also went on to get his own movie. George Lucas brought "Howard The Duck" to the big screen in 1986.

It's generally considered his biggest failure, and is on most critics worst movies ever made lists.

My codename is Wolverine. My first appearance wasn't in my own magazine though. What comic did I first appear in?

Answer: "Incredible Hulk" #180

Many people mistakenly think that "Incredible Hulk" #181 is the first appearance of Wolverine. However, he actually appears on the last page of "Incredible Hulk" #180.
6. My name is Dr. Stephen Strange, and I'm the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe. Although I debuted in a magazine with a name very similar to my own, my first series was comprised of back up stories to another popular Marvel character. Eventually the title of this comic was changed to "Doctor Strange". This particular series would be cancelled after a year, but I would have two more runs in "Doctor Strange" comics in later years. What comic book saw me make my debut in 1963?

Answer: "Strange Tales" #110

"Strange Tales" was a comic book anthology series published by Marvel Comics. It debuted in 1951 and originally featured several monster or sci-fi stories in each issue. Starting with issue number 101, the Human Torch from the "Fantastic Four" was featured in 12 page lead stories, followed by monster/sci-fi back-ups.

The first appearance of Doctor Strange appeared in issues #110 and #111. He started sharing the book with the Human Torch in issue #114, and his origin was presented in "Strange Tales" #115. Later issues would eventually see the Torch replaced by Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In 1968, "Strange Tales" was renamed "Doctor Strange", and Nick Fury was spun off into his own self titled series.
7. I'm the king of an African nation called Wakanda. My powers include enhanced senses, speed, strength, and agility. I'm a former member of the Avengers, but my first appearance was in "Fantastic Four" #52. I'm also considered the first major black superhero. What heroic name am I better known by?

Answer: Black Panther

The Black Panther was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966. The name is the title given to the chief of the Panther Tribe in the fictional country of Wakanda. Even the Black Panther costume is a symbol of office, and it's used for diplomatic matters. The current Black Panther is named T'Challa. He succeeded T'Chaka, his father.
8. I am the eldest son of Lord Robert Palmer, the man who discovered the Savage Land. The Savage Land was hidden beneath Antarctica by aliens, and is populated by dinosaurs, cavemen, and my sabretooth tiger companion Zabu. My name is Ka-Zar, and although I have had my own self titled comics published, I got my start in a comic about a famous team of mutants. Can you name the title and issue number I debuted in?

Answer: "X-Men" , vol.1 #10

The current Ka-Zar was actually predated by a previous incarnation in the 1930's, also published by Marvel. Marvel company policy is that this version never existed in current continuity, and that the only Ka-Zar is the second one described above.
9. I'm a ninja assassin trained by the Hand. I first appeared in "Daredevil" #168. Throughout my comics career I've had an on-again, off-again relationship with Daredevil. Answer: Elektra

Elektra was created by Frank Miller, who was credited with re-energizing the Daredevil series in the early 1980's. She always seems to walk the line between being one of the 'good guys' or a 'bad guy'. The Daredevil movie borrowed a lot of themes from Miller's run on the comic, including having Bullseye kill Elektra.
10. The name is Blade, and I'm a vampire slayer. My mother was bitten by a vampire while giving birth to me.
