Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Order of the Stick's leader is the intelligent and battle-hardened Roy Greenhilt, a fighter who wields his grandfather's eponymous greatsword. What is his quest?

Answer: To destroy the evil lich Xykon.

Roy inherited his father Eugene's blood oath of vengeance against Xykon, who had slain Eugene's mentor. However, since Xykon is bent on unleashing an extremely destructive creature known as the Snarl, Roy's quest is now no less than protecting the universe itself.
2. Second-in-command in the Order of the Stick is the beautiful rogue Haley Starshine. She often appears intensely materialistic and is interested only in collecting as much treasure as possible. What is her ultimate goal in amassing all this treasure, a goal which she has concealed from her teammates?

Answer: To ransom her father from a tyrant.

Haley struggles with her identity and how to present herself to her teammates. She is a thief, with all the ruthlessness that profession entails. This sets her at odds with the justice-minded sylph Celia, a lawyer in training who prefers to settle disagreements by negotiation, not violence. Haley is a master of sneak attacks, in contrast to her boyfriend, the bard Elan, who is gentle and completely free of guile.
3. Simple-minded Elan is the Order's bard. Although Elan often appears silly and incompetent, his talents have helped the order on more than a few occasions. Which of these is NOT a tactic Elan has used to help the party?

Answer: Giving wise counsel.

Elan has also used his made-up god, Banjo the Clown, God of Puppets, to negotiate with a group of orcs for supplies. While Elan began as the story's comic relief, he has gained a greater sense of responsibility and a greater degree of competence over the course of the plot.
4. The Order's tracker-- if he can really be called that-- is Belkar Bitterleaf, a psychopathic halfling whose real pleasures in life are derived from stabbing people and seducing women. Standing atop a pile of hobgoblin corpses during the battle of Azure City, Belkar triumphantly uttered a line which would forever define him in the minds of readers. What is it?

Answer: I am a sexy shoeless God of War!

Belkar is a highly effective fighter, but very problematic to his fellows because of his murderous tendencies. However, Belkar's lack of inhibitions makes him a very humorous character, as well as a target of his teammate Vaarsuvius' Explosive Runes.
5. The dwarf Durkon Thundershield is the Order of the Stick's cleric, often invoking the might of his patron deity to help the Order. What is Durkon's deity?

Answer: Thor

Durkon is one of the wisest and most mature member of the Order. Thus, it is rarely helpful when Durkon tries to think through a tough situation with W.W.T.D (What Would Thor Do?)-- what Thor WOULD do is smash his enemies with his divine might, drink oceans of beer, and seduce goddesses.
6. One of the Order's most powerful members is Vaarsuvius, an elven mage obsessed with the quest for ultimate arcane power. There is always one problem in referring to Vaarsuvius, and that is the matter of V's gender. What gender is Vaarsuvius?

Answer: We don't know

Vaarsuvius' gender is never revealed in the comic strip, despite the fact that the purple-haired elf is married (but to an equally androgynous elf) and the party has passed a restroom (which Vaarsuvius had no need to use). Vaarsuvius may be extremely intelligent, but V's love of showing off his/her great destructive power often limits V's ability to think strategically.
7. One of the Order of the Stick's recurring antagonists is the Linear Guild, lead by the dastardly Nale. Nale is the evil twin of which of the Order's members?

Answer: Elan

In fact, the entire Linear Guild consists of the opposites of the Order of the Stick. Nale is devious, and Roy's opposite, Thog, is stultifyingly dumb. The Linear Guild's original mission was to destroy the Order of the Stick, but they now have joined the fight to control the gates which contain the vicious Snarl.
8. Now we come to the self-proclaimed "Team Evil." Its undisputed leader is Xykon, the lich whom Roy is sworn to destroy. How does Xykon feel about Roy?

Answer: Complete indifference. Xykon can't even remember Roy's name.

Xykon is your stereotypical evil overlord, sadistic, impulsive, and in need of constant entertainment. In conflicts, Xykon believes that he can prevail if he just uses enough brute force, and once summed up his approach with the statement, "Sacrificing minions: Is there any problem it can't solve?"
9. Xykon's lieutenant is Redcloak, a goblin cleric. Perhaps surprisingly for an evil character, Redcloak has a conscience, and a goal which could be considered selfless. What is this goal?

Answer: To improve the lot of all goblins in the world.

Redcloak is torn between his feelings of responsibility to his people, the goblins and hobgoblins, and his association with Xykon, who treats his subordinates as disposable. Since Xykon is so aloof, Redcloak also takes responsibility for running most of their team's operations.
10. Xykon and Redcloak's "ace in the hole" is the Monster in the Darkness, a powerful creature whose fearsomeness is undermined by its timid and childlike behavior. What is the Monster in the Darkness' most terrifying threat to the Order of the Stick?

Answer: Your broken corpses will taste delicious lightly seasoned with nutmeg!

Xykon and Redcloak keep the creature swathed in darkness in order to maintain its dramatic effectiveness, even giving it a Hello Kitty umbrella to project magical darkness whenever the monster goes outdoors. Scary.
