Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Harvey" - In the 1996 version of "Harvey" with Harry Anderson as Elwood, what stays the same about Elwood?

Answer: His father's name is John Fredrick

Elwood's father is still John Fredrick, as said right after telling the story of how he met Harvey. I don't remember who James Stewart's Elwood said his childhood playmate's name was, but Harry Anderson's Elwood said Verne Mackelhaney. Veta says "You're staying right here" in the 1950 version, but it's Omar, the family lawyer, who says it in the 1996 version. And in this version, Dr. Chumley wants him to take that formula so he can have Harvey all to himself.
2. "Harvey" - What's Harvey's height in the 1996 version?

Answer: 6'8.5"

I was surprised that in the 1996 version, Harvey was said to be 6'8.5" in this, but I guess it was to compensate for the fact that Harry Anderson is 6'4" in real life, a height difference that trumps not only James Stewart, but also "Doctor Who" actors Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker if Harry were ever asked to play an incarnation on "Doctor Who".
3. "Father of the Bride" - Neither George nor Stanley Banks do which of these in the movie?

Answer: Say goodbye to their daughters before they leave for their honeymoon

I ought to Gibbs-slap Diane Keaton and the woman who played Stanley's wife for making their respective husbands too busy to let them say goodbye to their daughter in person before she went on her honeymoon. The only thing is, at least Kay and George have a do-over with Megan.
4. "Father of the Bride" - What was the difference between the fight in the first version and the fight in the remake?

Answer: Kay and Buckley were fighting over where to honeymoon

They thought it would be a lot more sensible if they changed the argument to the fiancee buying her a blender.
5. "The Money Pit" - Like when the Blandingses moved in, what happened to the house when Walter and Anna moved in?

Answer: It started falling apart

At the beginning Mr. Blandings builds his dream house. The Blandingses, a married couple with two daughters, buy a beautiful house that turns out to be a broken-down shack. In "The Money Pit", Walter and Anna, a poor couple in need of a house, buy it off an unknown con artist who sells it to them for $200,000.

As it turns out, the house was made to look great, but it was in deep need of repairs.
6. "The Money Pit" - What's the difference between Walter and Mr. Blandings?

Answer: Mr. Blandings was a middle-class advertising exec and Walter was a bankrupt talent lawyer

Walter's father ran a talent law firm with him, but then he embezzled from all of his and Walter's clients, moved to Rio and married a beautiful young woman who he later bought a house with-from the same woman who sold Walter and Anna the other house to.

The problem with Mr. Blandings was he just landed a deal with the biggest producer in imitation ham in the nation, and had to come up with a better slogan. In the end, his maid comes up with it and that pays him a big commission.
7. "In the Good Old Summertime" - In this movie, the first of two remakes of "The Shop Around the Corner", what's similar between the end of this movie and the original is that the two main characters fall in love.

Answer: True

They were co-workers up until the end of the movie because their boss, played by S.C. Sekall, blindly fired Van Johnson's character since the other character broke his beloved Stradivarius. At the end, though, it's as true as the end of the original. The female finds out what the man's known for most of the movie and falls in love with him as he has for her over time.
8. "In the Good Old Summertime" - What separates "In the Good Old Summertime" from "The Shop Around the Corner?"

Answer: Location

The original movie is set overall in Berlin while "In the Good Old Summertime" took place in Chicago.
9. "12 Angry Men" - The thing that stays the same is the trial of the kid accused of murdering his father.

Answer: True

Though the diversity changed in this remake, the discussion at the jury room remained the same: Is the kid innocent or guilty?
10. "12 Angry Men" - They never gave a reason why Juror #3 wanted the kid to go to jail for killing his father in the 1957 version. What was the reason in the 1997 version?

Answer: He didn't like the concept of a son wanting to kill his father

In both versions, Juror #3 didn't have any compressed issues with his son, but he was still mad at his son for cutting all ties with him in the 1997 version, and when the boy said that he wanted to kill his father, that sent Juror #3 over the edge of anger and made him decide he wanted the kid to go to jail. Being forced to let that reason out made him rage out and rip the picture of his son up, resulting in everyone holding him back and one of the jurors telling him to let the kid live, which subliminally read as advice to let his son go as well.
