Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart is best known as 1/2 of the tag team The Hart Foundation with Bret Hart. However, he's not as well known in a failed gimmick where he wrestled under a mask for a very short time. By what name did Neidhart go by as this masked wrestler?

Answer: WHO

In 1996 Neidhart came to the ring in a yellow mask and was introduced as WHO. This prompted then commentator Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler to try to reproduce Abbot & Costello's Who's on First? Thankfully the gimmick was scrapped and Neidhart returned as The Anvil once again when Bret Hart formed the New Hart Foundation. (My thanks to Wrestlecrap.com for some of the information provided)
2. After some success in WCW and a brief stint in ECW, Steve Austin finally made it to the WWE in 1995. Before becoming the beer swilling, bird flipping, butt kicking redneck everyone came to know and love, Austin was managed by Ted Dibiase and was handed the "Million Dollar" championship belt. Oddly, he rarely if ever spoke. By what name did Austin go by before becoming "Stone Cold"?

Answer: The Ringmaster

Before shaving his head completely bald, Austin came into the WWE as "The Ringmaster" and was managed by "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase. Dibiase even gave Austin his "Million Dollar" championship belt. Austin feuded with Savio Vega for a short time and, according to "kayfabe" purposely lost to Vega in a match that had a stipulation that if Austin lost, Ted Dibiase would leave the WWE.
3. Dustin Runnels grew up in a wrestling family as his father is the legendary Dusty Rhodes. Dustin debuted as himself in the WWE as well as in WCW. When Dustin returned to the WWE, he re-debuted wearing a gold body suit, platinum blond wig, and entered the ring with gold confetti falling as the enigmatic Goldust. After years of success in the WWE, he returned to WCW and was set to debut as someone who stalked children. Thankfully, this gimmick was dropped as quickly as it debuted. What was the name of Dustin's new gimmick?

Answer: Seven

After leaving the WWE, Dustin re-signed with WCW and was featured in little vignettes showing him in creepy white face and a long dark coat terrorizing children like a boogeyman. Then on an episode of "WCW Monday Nitro", Dustin floated to the ring, landed in the center of the ring, and then proceeded to do a "shoot" promo trashing the new gimmick and telling everyone he was not going through with the Seven gimmick because he was tired of being a clown.

In reality, The Turner Company who at the time owned WCW decided that the gimmick of someone stalking children was a tad too creepy and decided to drop it. Runnels eventually returned to the WWE as Goldust. (My thanks to Wrestlecrap.com for helping with some of the above info)
4. Before becoming the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga was known as Jamal and was 1/2 of a tag team with Rosie who were used by "RAW" GM Eric Bischoff to attack certain wrestlers including crashing Billy and Chuck's commitment ceremony on "Smackdown!". What was the name of this tag team?

Answer: 3 Minute Warning

As Jamal he and Rosie would attack whomever Bischoff wanted them to. This gimmick didn't last too long and Jamal was let out of his contract only to come back a year later as Umaga The Samoan Bulldozer.
5. Before Al Snow picked up a mannequin head and started talking to it, in his first run in the WWE, Snow went through 3 terrible gimmicks. One was the masked superhero Avatar, another was the super ninja Shinobi. The third had him team up with Marty Jannetty to form the "New Rockers". By what name did Al Snow go by in this third incarnation?

Answer: Leif Cassidy

Leif Cassidy was a play on former teen heartthrobs Leif Garrett and Sean Cassidy. Snow did compete once as Steve Moore. Duane Gill is, of course, the infamous "Gillberg". And Al Sarven is Al Snow's real name.
6. Before Mick Foley developed his "3 Faces of Foley", he wrestled under the name of Jack Foley.

Answer: True

While training with Dominic Denucci, Mick participated in a few tune-up or "squash" matches on WWE television as a "jobber". During these matches Mick wrestled as Jack Foley paying homage to his father, Jack. He kept the Jack name when he created the more famous Cactus Jack gimmick.
7. Before Paul Michael Levesque, better known these days as Triple H, married the boss' daughter and became The Game, he wrestled under the name of Jean Paul Levesque while in WCW. He also wrestled under another name while in WCW. What was that name?

Answer: Terra Ryzing

Levesque used Terra Ryzing for a brief time before using Jean Paul Levesque. Soon after he left for the WWE and greener pastures as the Connecticut Blue Blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
The Goon was a hockey gimmick used by 'Wild' Bill Irwin.
Das Wunderkind was what Alex Wright was referred to as in WCW.
8. Tito Santana had an illustrious career including winning the WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships but toward the end of his career Tito was repackaged into a short-lived persona. What was this gimmick?

Answer: El Matador

In a move that surprised many, Santana was given the gimmick of El Matador, tapping into his Spanish roots. He retired from the WWE in 1993.
9. Before Mark Calaway, better known as The Undertaker, started wreaking havoc in the WWE, he had another persona while wrestling in WCW. What was that persona?

Answer: "Mean" Mark Callous

Calaway had some success as Mean Mark Callous as a member of the Skyscrapers while in WCW. The other names were all used by Calaway but in different promotions. Mean Mark Callous is the only name he used in WCW.
10. Steve Lombardi has been employed by the WWE for many years. During his time he has been Kamala's handler Kimchee, Doink the Clown, but he's best known as the Brooklyn Brawler. In 1994, Lombardi took on another personality in response to the Major League Baseball strike. This character's name was Abe "Knuckleball" ___________.

Answer: Schwartz

Lombardi wore a baseball uniform and had his face painted like a baseball. He was mostly seen walking through the crowd during "Monday Night RAW".
