Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Pete Throb, aka Pimply Pete, was often courting the affections of the Lovely Lucy (despite her digs about his giant zit), but he finally found love with somebody else. What was her name?

Answer: Susie

Susie and Pete were happy together for a while, until Pete bribed the "Oink!" artist to draw him without his pimples, and then he started being unkind to all his zitty friends and insisting Susie snog whether she wanted to or not.

Sadly, the artist re-introduced Pete's pimple (after he found he couldn't use "Oink!" currency in the real world). Susie yelled at Pete immediately after that "Pus off, zithead!" (presumably ance-izing better-known foul language...) and that was that.
2. Horace "Uglyface" Watkins' girlfriend Mandy was often bothered (and actually kidnapped in the final edition) by a character called Pimply Pete. This was the same chap who had the giant zit.

Answer: False

Pimply Pete had the same name but didn't look (or act) anything like the Pete Throb we all knew and loved.

Horace rescued his bride-to-be from the pimply prankster and they got the wedding on time. They were covered in cuts and bruises, but were so happy they didn't care.
3. What was Tom Thug's estranged older brother's name?

Answer: Ernie Thug

Ernie wasn't exactly estranged, he'd left home to join the army. He came home and Tom tried to impress him with some poor attempts at thuggery in the street.

Ernie was laughing at Tom's expense, until the two MPs arrived at the Thug house and arrested Ernie for being AWOL. Tom was so thick he actually thought they were just giving him a lift back to camp, even though Ernie was sobbing "No! It's all noisy and rough! I want my mum!"
4. Complete this story title: "Barrington Bosh Is Awfully ______"?

Answer: Posh

Young Barrington was so rich he actually employed his servants to dress him, chat up his girlfriend for him (or the servant acting on her behalf), clean his teeth and chat for him (using a puppet) at dinner parties.
5. One day an incredibly rude boy named Keith Disease offended a demon. When Keith asked "What are you gonna do about it Squid-breath?" the demon put a curse on him and Keith became trapped on the front of another boy's plain t-Shirt. What was the unfortunate second boy's name?

Answer: Hector Vector

Hector was well-mannered, thoughtful and well presented, quite the contrast to his new "friend". Because Hector's t-shirt could now talk people would sometimes think it was poor Hector who was being rude and he would suffer the consequences instead!

Sometimes though he could put his t-shirt through the washing-machine and dryer to punish it.
6. "Oink!" quite often parodied popular comic, TV and movie characters. More often than not turning them into pigs. What was the name of the gang of piggy street-bikers who took on the mafia?

Answer: The Street-Hogs

Dirty Harry, Emma and Hi-Fat and their friend Hoggy Bare fought the Poloney Mafia Family. Emma grabbed Don Poloney by the hair towards the end, to stop him from falling to his dead (and to bring him to trial), but Poloney never stood trial. He was wearing a wig.
7. What was the name of the wonder-pig (who'd been inspired by the wonder-dog Lassie)?

Answer: All of these

When someone wrote to Uncle Pigg asking him why the name of the Wonder-Pig kept changing, he replied "Because I've got a bad memory of names. Signed Ankle Pogg...sorry, Enkle Pugg...er, I mean, Uncle Pugg..."
8. Which of the following was NOT a member of the teenaged pop group, "The Slugs"?

Answer: Jimmy

Jimmy was in fact The Slugs' manager, but not a very good one.

When Jimmy and The Slugs were touring the US and having trouble getting gigs, they were thrown off the bus for singing, and left stuck in the middle of nowhere with no money.

Suddenly some Hells Angels rode up and were about to hurt them, when their leader recognised them and gave them all (except Jimmy) a lift, because he was a fan.
9. What Doctor was considering, "Completely Looney"?

Answer: Dr. Mooney

Dr. Mooney was one of my favourites! He was as tactless and unethical as he was funny.

An old hag would come to his office and ask for something to make her more attractive to her boyfriend. Dr. Mooney produced a bottle of "Looney Pills" and said "Give HIM three of these every hour!"

Or a woman would complain "I feel like a mermaid."
Dr. Mooney: "Try this chap, he's a specialist. Here's his business card."
Woman: "Oh thanks, is he a specialist?"
Dr. Mooney: "No he's my fishmonger!"
10. In the "`Oink!` Goes Peculiar" issue, the comic's layout, style, paper and lots of other noticable things changed because Uncle Pigg went nuts and got control of the comic's control-panel machinery. We readers were all laughing, but it turned out it wasn't really Uncle Pigg at all.

Answer: True

It actually turned out to be a robot double that exploded due to overload. But the staff thought it was the real one and when it "died" one of them sobbed "I'd give two week wages just to have him back!"

"Glad to hear it pal!" said a familiar voice suddenly "I'll go add that to my bank account."

(The staff then knew this was the REAL Uncle Pigg!)
11. What was the name of the company that seemed to sell anything and everything, and had a very nasty, manipulative, con-artist, streak (and were associated with British Rail)?

Answer: GBH

GBH normally stands for "Grievious Bodily Harm". GBH Incorporated sold things like holidays by polluted beaches, rusty old bicycles and dresses made out of newspaper.

One "satisfied" customer sent them a letter saying "At first I thought I wanted nothing from your catalouge, but when your "representative" called round with his "friends", I found myself ordering many different products out of fear of my own life!"
12. Which of the following was NOT the subject of an "Oink!" edition.

Answer: Chemistry

I suppose if they ever had some a chemistry issue they would have had Mary Lighthouse unknowingly drinking a mad scientist's concotion. That would have been lovely!
13. When "The Slugs" were auditioning for Eurovision what did they do to be chosen to represent England?

Answer: They ate baked-beans and farted, scaring all competition away

When they actually played at the contest they scored NEGATIVE 10! They got the last word though, when they showed their posteriers to the camera and said "Don't worry luv, we can BARE it! Rule Brittainia!"
14. In the final issue of "Oink!" what was the name of the unemployed parody of Donald Duck?

Answer: Dumb Old Duck

He couldn't get a job due to a speech impediment, and could not land any new movie roles either due to his outdated humour. He was thinking of ending it all, but his luck changed and he got a job as a train announcer (hired due to his incoherance!).
15. In the final edition of "Oink!", Uncle Pigg pleaded with the readers to send him and his bankrupt employees money, and they did, ensuring the whole lot landed on Mary Lighthouse and squashed her! What did Uncle Pigg neglect to mention to his fans?

Answer: He had a secret Swiss bank account

So in the final issue, we got to see Uncle Pigg and co-flying to an exotic beach location, Horace and Mandy getting married, and a few other goodies. Then that was it...and "Oink!" has been no more since 1988. Sniff, sniff, sob, wail!

I hope my quiz had brought you back lots of memories if nothing else.
