Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was running through Ken's mind as he exacted his revenge? "Eat my pet fish, will you? Well how do you feel about becoming a human pancake?" In what film did Ken run over Otto with a steam roller?

Answer: A Fish Called Wanda

"A Fish Called Wanda" was about a bank heist and the events in the aftermath as the non-fish Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) tried to abscond with the loot. The evil Otto (Kevin Kline in his Oscar-winning role) wanted to find out where the loot was stored, so he tormented Ken (Michael Palin) into revealing the location by eating his pet fish, including Wanda the fish. Palin apparently wanted to put his reputation as the nice Python to bed.

Not only did he squash Otto, he killed three dogs and an old woman. Otto survived, however, and we were told he became the Minister for Justice in South Africa.
2. This comedian shared his tale of his childhood revenge against the slushball-throwing Junior Barnes on his 1967 album appropriately titled "Revenge". Which future sitcom star plotted his attack over a number of months?

Answer: Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby explained the rules of the snowball game: you could hit a kid with a soft snowball but not with a slushball. That was considered too mean. So one day, Junior Barnes hit him will a slushball and Cosby decided to serve his revenge cold... in the middle of summer.

He made a snowball and stuck it in his freezer, intending to bean Junior Barnes with it in July, but when he went to retrieve the snowball, he discovered his mother had thrown it out. So he spit on Barnes instead.
3. "The Count of Monte Cristo" is a classic tale of revenge. Which English comic wrote a book released in the U.S. as "Revenge: A Novel" but called "The Stars' Tennis Balls" elsewhere that was a modern tale, loosely based on the story?

Answer: Stephen Fry

Released in the U.K. as "The Stars' Tennis Balls", the tale follows a privileged teenager who becomes the victim of a jealous classmate's prank and ends up in an asylum for many years. His time spent there warps his personality, and he becomes obsessed with revenge.

He later violently exacts his revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment but the change in his personality scares off his former girlfriend, and he retreats back to the island of his previous captivity.
4. Abuse can be a catalyst for seeking revenge. Which country music trio dispatched the abusive Earl?

Answer: Dixie Chicks

Earl was the abusive husband of Wanda in the song "Goodbye Earl", which was written by Dennis Linde in the 1990s. Wanda had a restraining order against him, but he still beat her up, so her best friend Mary-Ann and she plotted to take Earl out, and they did so by feeding him poisoned black-eyed peas. Earl apparently ended up in a lake.
5. We knew how this character felt about taking his revenge on his uncle because he told us so: "O, from this time forth, my thoughts be bloody or be nothing worth". In which play did the title character only briefly get to enjoy his revenge before his own death?

Answer: Hamlet

Upon finding out that his uncle had killed his father to take his crown and his wife, Hamlet became consumed with avenging his father's death by killing his uncle. Unfortunately, his uncle realized that Hamlet had it in for him, and he arranged for Hamlet's death also. Hamlet managed to kill his uncle before succumbing to the injury inflicted upon him during a sword fight with Laertes, who was also avenging his own father's death.
6. This 1980s duo included a song called "Revenge" on their debut album. Which duo plotted getting even in their sweet dreams?

Answer: The Eurythmics

The song "Revenge" appeared on the Eurythmics first album, "In the Garden", released in 1981 before the duo hit it big. The song talked about toying "with the ones I hate" and enjoying watching them suffer. Revenge must have been a consuming thought for the Eurythmics; in 1986, the duo released an album also titled "Revenge".
7. "The Revenge" was the title of an episode in the second season of a classic 1990s TV show. In which show did the characters attempt to get even with a laundromat owner by pouring cement in one of his machines?

Answer: Seinfeld

In the episode, Jerry dropped off clothes at a laundromat, only to realize that he had left money in the laundry bag, and it was missing when the laundry was picked up. The owner denied taking the money, so Kramer and Jerry decided to get even by pouring cement in one of the laundromat washing machines.

It turned out that Kramer had the money; it was in his laundry bag that Jerry had also taken to the laundromat. Jerry ended up having to give the money to the laundromat owner to cover the damages.

Another plot of revenge in the episode involved George trying to get even with his boss after he quit his job and his boss wouldn't rehire him.
8. We can't blame The Bride for wanting to exact revenge on her former co-workers; they nearly killed her at her wedding rehearsal. In which pair of films did she dispatch them one by one?

Answer: Kill Bill Volume 1/Kill Bill Volume 2

Assassin Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman) decided to give up her dangerous occupation after discovering she was pregnant, but her attempt to start a new life was thwarted when her former boss, Bill (David Carradine), and his team crashed her wedding rehearsal and turned it into a bloodbath.

The Bride (Thurman) was left comatose, but when she awoke, she went after Bill and the gang and took her revenge.
9. Bitterness can eat away at a person's soul and lead to a desire for revenge. In which 19th century novel did an adopted son target his siblings and their descendants?

Answer: Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff was adopted by Hindley and Cathy's father, and his bitterness at their mistreatment of him drove him to seek revenge on them. He took advantage of Hindley's penchant for alcohol and gambling to ruin him. He loved Cathy too much to attack her directly, so he went after the man she married (Edgar) by seducing his sister and later arranging for Edgar and Cathy's daughter to marry his (Heathcliff's) son.
10. It's hard to repair a long distance relationship, especially when your boss won't let you go home to do so. In which classic 1970/1980s comedy did a helicopter pilot take revenge on his commander in a number of ways, including blowing up a latrine with him in it?

Answer: MASH

The episode "Cowboy" was from season one. "Cowboy" was the nickname of a chopper pilot who wanted to go home to save his marriage, but Colonel Henry Blake wouldn't let him, so Cowboy went after Blake: blowing up the latrine with Blake in it, shooting at Blake when he was playing golf, and blowing up his chair, among other things. Eventually, Cowboy's wife sent him a letter, and he realized all was well in their marriage.
