When Ponyboy, Johnny and Dally get back to the church it's on fire and some of the children are inside. They rescue the children and are deemed heroes but Johnny is hurt in the fire and dies from his injuries.

Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn were characters in a book by Mark Twain. The pair couldn't be any more different. Tom lived with his Aunt who took good care of him but Huck was on his own due to an alcoholic father. Tom admired Huck's freedom but was also embarrassed to be called his friend at times.

They saw a murder and ran away to an island in fear of being killed themselves. While they were gone their family thought they may have drowned. A funeral was held for Tom in which he showed up, and they testified in court. Eventually Huck is adopted by Tom's aunt.
