Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In one of his earliest credited roles, Steve Harris played two different characters on this TV series that launched several spin-offs in its 20 year run. On which TV show did Steve play characters named Dogs and Calvin in the mid 1990s?

Answer: Law & Order

"Law & Order" aired from 1990-2010, a total of twenty seasons. Steve was in two episodes, playing two different minor characters. The series gave rise to spin-offs "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "Law & Order: Trial by Jury", and "Law & Order: LA". The latter two only lasted one season each, but "Law & Order: SVU" began its seventeenth season in September 2015, and "Criminal Intent" lasted for ten seasons.

Steve Harris was born on December 3, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois.
2. In the 1996 movie "The Rock", Steve played Private McCoy. The movie was about a group of marines who decided to take over the titular location and point a bomb toward San Francisco. They wanted $100 million from the government or else they'd launch the bomb. What was the location known as "The Rock"?

Answer: Former prison

Alcatraz Island, off of the San Francisco coast, used to be a prison and was closed in 1963. It became a tourist attraction, and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1986.

The film starred Ed Harris, Nicholas Cage, Sean Connery, David Morse, and Michael Biehn. Actor Xander Berkeley had an uncredited role in the film. He and Steve Harris would eventually be in another joint project.
3. Between 1997-2004, Steve portrayed Eugene Young, an attorney, on "The Practice".

Answer: True

"The Practice" also starred Dylan McDermott, Michael Badalucco, Lisa Gay Hamilton, and Camryn Manheim. It was created by David E. Kelley, and won several Emmys for Outstanding Lead in a Drama Series and Outstanding Guest in a Drama Series. In 2004, Steve Harris won an NAACP Image Award for his role on the show.
4. In which 2005 Tyler Perry movie did Steve give a memorable performance as Charles, the abusive husband of Helen, who ended up at her mercy?

Answer: Diary of a Mad Black Woman

"Diary of a Mad Black Woman" was written by Tyler Perry, who also appeared as one of his most famous characters, Madea. Since her film debut here, Madea has appeared in several other movies by Perry. But, she first appeared in plays he'd written. In the film, Steve played Charles, a money and power hungry lawyer, who'd mistreated his wife of 18 years.

He refused to have children with her, but had two with his mistress. Then, at the height of his success, he tossed her onto the street and out of their mansion.

He moved the mistress and kids in right away. After she fell in love with a decent man, played by Shemar Moore, Helen went back to care for Charles, who'd had a stroke. When he still refused to show her respect, or apologize for his mistreatment of her, she taught him a powerful lesson.

His mistress left him, so he was at Helen's mercy. Helen was played by Kimberly Elise. Perry also starred in all of the other choices, but after "DOAMBW".
5. A poor townie (actor Joshua Jackson) with a scholarship to Harvard for rowing, a secret society, a co-conspirator and 'soulmate' (actor Paul Walker), and the death of a friend describe this 2000 film in which Steve Harris played a character named Sparrow. What position of power did Sparrow have in "The Skulls"?

Answer: Police detective

It turned out that Detective Sparrow was working with The Skulls, a secret Harvard society, and when Luke (Joshua Jackson) went to the police, he took the proof of Will's death and replaced it. Levritt, Sparrow's Skull contact, was inferred to be Luke's father, though it was never explicitly stated.

Joshua Jackson rose to fame on the series "Dawson's Creek", but went on to star in the series "Fringe" and "The Affair". Paul Walker may be best known for his role in the "Fast and Furious" movie franchise. Paul passed away in 2013.
6. The show was about a character named Mickey O' Neil, who wanted to pull off the biggest robbery of all time, all on the same day. He hired a team to steal from three jewellery stores in Beverly Hills. Airing in 2006, what was the name of that TV series, where Steve played James Johnson?

Answer: Heist

The series had low ratings, so only six episodes were aired. Dougray Scott played Mickey. He was also in the Netflix series "Hemlock Grove". "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" was a game in the "GTA" video game franchise.

Future "High School Musical" and movie star Zac Efron also had a small role in the pilot of "Heist".
7. Picture it- small town Texas. High school football was center stage. Coach Taylor inspired his players to be more than just athletes. They had to get good grades, and show good character, to be on his team. On this series, Steve Harris played Virgil Merriweather, father to Jess, and respected business man in his community. Which TV series was it that Steve Harris played the owner of a BBQ place and was once a high school quarterback?

Answer: Friday Night Lights

"Friday Night Lights" aired from 2006-2011. It starred Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Taylor Kitsch, Jesse Plemons, Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki, Michael B. Jordan, and Jurnee Smollett. Virgil was a tough father, and looked unfavorably on Jess' relationship with footballer Vince. He softened his stance after Coach Taylor asked him to help Vince.

Jurnee Smollett is the sister of Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon on the Fox series "Empire". Both Jurnee and Michael B. Jordan (who played Vince), went on to star on the series "Parenthood" after "Friday Night Lights" ended its run. "One Tree Hill" centered around basketball, MTV's "Teen Wolf" had lacrosse as its main sport, and "Fame" was about a performing arts high school.
8. On the TV series "Awake", Steve Harris played a doctor with the nickname Rat.

Answer: False

He actually played a cop, Isaiah Freeman, with the nickname of "Bird". The series only aired 13 episodes in 2012. It was about a man named Michael Britten who was involved in a car accident, but when he woke up afterward he lived in two different realities. In one version, his wife had survived the crash. In the other version, his son was the one who lived. Steve Harris played his partner, and after the crash he was still his partner in one of the realities.

Jason Isaacs played Michael. You know how some people still with you based on seeing them in a certain role? Well, Jason Isaacs stayed with me after seeing him in the 1997 film "Event Horizon". His voice and face always remind me of that movie, even though he played a more famous role as Lucius Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" films.
9. On which FX original series about a U.S. Marshal named Raylan Givens, did Steve play a character named Roscoe?

Answer: Justified

"Justified" starred Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, and Walton Goggins as his life long nemesis Boyd Crowder. In the show's fifth season, Steve Harris played Roscoe, a bad guy who was killed by Miller. The series lasted for six seasons, ending in 2015.

"In Plain Sight" was also about U.S. marshals, but aired on the USA Network, "The Walking Dead" was an AMC original series, and "Saving Grace" was about cops in Oklahoma City, and it aired on TNT.
10. In which 2015 Spike Lee film, set in Chicago, did Steve play a character named Ole Duke?

Answer: Chi-raq

"Chi-raq" was directed by Spike Lee, and set in the crime filled streets of south Chicago. It was released in the first week of December 2015, and had many positive reviews. The movie was supposed to reflect the war-like quality of the area by combining the names of Chicago and Iraq. Women in the movie threaten to go on strike in order to try and get men to stop killing each other. Other actors in the movie are Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, John Cusack, Teyonah Parris, and Jennifer Hudson.

Steve Harris has a commanding presence in whatever part he plays. He has been in many more TV shows and movies than I have put in this quiz, including animated voice work in "The Batman".
