Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What movie teamed up Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfuss as roommates?

Answer: The Goodbye Girl

The best part of this movie is when Elliot moves in with Paula and her daughter, Lucy, in the middle of the night. Elliot is trying to be so nice, but "he doesn't like the panties hanging on the rod..." A great movie. I wish these two would team up one more time. "The Goodbye Girl" was released again with Jeff Daniels and Patricia Heaton in 2004, but you can't mess with perfection.

The words were the exact same in the second movie, or very close to the original, but... the actor's can never be replaced.
2. This song could have been written about Elvis, Judy Garland, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Dean and John Candy, to name a few. What song is this that was sung by Billy Joel?

Answer: Only the Good Die Young

It's too bad that we lose so many good entertainers at such a young age. Some died due to drugs, alcohol and even weight issues. You wonder what life would have been, if these stars were still around us today.
3. Hey, sometimes I say, "Make my day" and sometimes I hang around an ape named Clyde. But some people remember this spaghetti western of mine that was also titled "Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo". What is the American title of this movie?

Answer: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

This was the beginning of legend Clint Eastwood. Clint was born in San Francisco, California in 1930. Clint made it to the top in Sergio Leone's stories. Clint also decided to start a singing career in "Paint Your Wagon" in 1969. Clint again tried a new character in the spooky "Play Misty for Me" with Jessica Walter. Clint picked up the line "make my day" from his role of Dirty Harry Callahan. Clint also worked with the ape, Clyde in "Any Which Way You Can" and "Every Which Way But Loose". I know my favorite of Clint's was "Space Cowboys" in 2000. What a great movie!
4. What movie do we hear Col. Nathan Jessep state, "you can't handle the truth"?

Answer: A Few Good Men

Once again Jack Nicholson sticks out as playing the role of Col. Jessep. Kaffee, who was played by Tom Cruise, was trying to find out about "Code Red". Kaffee was trying to get answers from the Colonel. Kaffee asked only the "the truth," to which Col. Jessep responded with "you can't handle the truth."
Actually, Kaffee could handle the truth and did get the truth. Unfortunately, Col. Jessup got the handcuffs and "couldn't" handle those.
5. What movie would we find Diane Keaton playing the role of a teacher during the day time but exploring sex and drugs at night time?

Answer: Looking for Mr. Goodbar

Diane Keaton has been up for Oscar in the 70's, the 80's, the 90's and most recently in 2003 for "Something's Gotta Give". Diane Keaton picked up her Oscar in 1977 for "Annie Hall".
I find it comical that Diane is always dressed from head to toe. Covered with hats, turtlenecks and usually pants. But she was still able to have her "screaming scene" in "Something's Gotta Give".
6. What would the next line be in this song? "You broke my will, oh what a thrill, __________."

Answer: Goodness gracious, great balls of fire

Dennis Quaid played the legendary "Killer" Jerry Lee Lewis in 1989 movie, "Great Balls of Fire!". This movie did not get great reviews, but I for one liked the movie. I thought Dennis did an outstanding job recreating Jerry Lee. He always stood by the side of Myra Gale, portrayed by Winona Ryder.
7. In the movie, "The Wizard of Oz", Dorothy meets many characters in Oz. One of them is Glinda. Who was Glinda in this cute movie?

Answer: The Good Witch of the North

Billie Burke portrayed the role of the beautiful Witch, Glinda. Even though Billie had appeared in more than 50 films, she was probably best known for this character.
By the way, Margaret Hamilton portrayed the ugly old Wicked Witch of the West. I would not want to be remembered by this name for the rest of my life.
8. In what television show did we hear J.J. say "DYN-O-MITE"?

Answer: Good Times

"Good Times" was the first major role for Jimmy Walker. He portrayed the tall, skinny son of Florida and James Evans. Florida was previously a maid/housekeeper for "Maude" in 1972. "Maude" was also a spin off of good ole' Archie Bunker "All in the Family". Actually, Bea Arthur was also in "The Golden Girls" who also spun off "Empty Nest", which starred Richard Mulligan. Richard Mulligan was also in "Soap" which spun off the role of Benson. "Benson" was portrayed by Robert Guillaume. Does this sound like another quiz?
9. This beautiful actress has guest starred in the television show "My Wife and Kids" playing the role of Vanessa. Do you know her name?

Answer: Meagan Good

Meagan is from sunny California. Meagan was nominated for Outstanding Youth Actress for the movie "Eve's Bayou" in 1997 for both the Image Award and the YoungStar Award. She lost to Scarlett Johansson in "The Horse Whisperer" for the YoungStar Award. She also lost to Brandon Hammond for his role in "Soul Food".
10. What song did Marty sing and play the guitar for, in the original "Back to the Future" movie?

Answer: Johnny B. Goode

All of these songs were part of the track for "Back to the Future". Huey Lewis was actually one of the judges in the scene where Marty's band is auditioning. Unfortunately Marty's band didn't make the cut.
Was that like one "good" quiz? Feel free to mark the "excellent" rating though. Thanks for playing!
