Answer: False

Mahjong is a Chinese game that is thought to be at least 4,000 years old. It can be played for fun or as a type of gambling game. While it is played in some Asian casinos as a gambling game it has not reached the same popularity in the casinos of other countries.

It is possible that it will become as common as other forms of gambling due to the increase in gambling websites that include it.
8. Which of these is the name of the centuries old Chinese gambling game that is played without cards or dice?

Answer: Fan-Tan

Fan-tan is a Chinese gambling game which has been played for at least 2,000 years and is offered at most gambling houses in East Asia. The game is played by laying out a square in the center of the table, the sides of the square are marked 1, 2, 3, and 4. Player then place their wagers on one side of the square.

A handful of small objects, beans, buttons, or sometimes coins is emptied onto the table and covers some of them with a metal bowl. He rapidly removes the remaining objects, four at a time, using a small bamboo stick.

This goes on until four or less objects remain. However many objects are left becomes the winning number. If four objects remain then anyone betting on the number four is a winner etc.
9. The gambling world has a language all its own. A fairly common poker term is to call the king of spades "The suicide king". This card was thought to depict Emperor Nero and refers to his suicide.

Answer: False

In many playing card patterns, the king of HEARTS appears to be sticking his sword into his head. This has led to the term "suicide king". In actuality this card is thought to depict Charlemagne and the appearance of the card is the result of centuries of bad copying by English card makers.

The original cards depicted the king holding an axe, with the blade of the axe disappearing behind the head of the king. After generations of being reprinted it now appears that the king is sticking a sword into his head. Just as a note, the king of hearts is often the only king to be depicted without a moustache. If you happen to look for antique playing cards, take a close look at the king of hearts, it will often tell you when the deck was made by how this card is depicted.
