Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For over a decade I was one of the most popular jobbers in the WWF. I was originally booked to win The WWF Tag Team Championship with Tony Atlas in 1982, however Tony missed the show and several others after that so the idea was scrapped for a year. Who am I?

Answer: S.D. Jones

The concept of an all African American tag team winning the WWF Tag Team Titles was being tossed around for a while by both Vince McMahon Sr. and Jr.. Atlas missing some shows lead directly to the creation of The Strongbow Bros. who were not really brothers at all.

The first all African American WWF Tag Team Champions were crowned in November 1983 when Atlas and Rocky Johnson beat The Wild Samoans. Atlas and Johnson did not like each other and this hindered their success and thus the length of their reign, just four months, which may seem long now but was short back then.
2. During the mid and late 1990s I held The WWF Tag Team Titles with no less than three different partners. Jeff Jarrett, and the late British Bulldog and Yokozuna were the three partners. I was the youngest child of a celebrated and revered wrestling family. Who am I?

Answer: Owen Hart

The late great Owen Hart held The WWF Tag Team Titles with three different partners between 1995 and 1999. In 1995 he and the gargantuan Yokozuna defeated The Smokin Gunns at WrestleMania XI. In September 1996 he and brother in law British Bulldog defeated The Gunns at "In Your House: Mind Games", many consider this Owen's best run with the belts.

In January 1999 Hart and Jeff Jarrett defeated Ken Shamrock and Big Boss Man on a segment of "Raw" for one last run.
3. I already had a very successful career when I arrived in The WWF in 1982. I had a brief but bloody feud with Jimmy Snuka in late 1982-early 1983. I also had the distinction of being co-managed by two WWE Hall of Famers; Fred Blassie and Lou Albano. Who am I?

Answer: Ray "The Crippler" Stevens

Ray Stevens had competed for over two decades before his WWF debut in the fall of the 1982. Initially he was managed by Freddie Blassie however when Jimmy Snuka fired Lou Albano, the disgraced manager reached out to his associate Blassie and his charge Stevens for some help. All they needed to add was the legendary Grand Wizard and Stevens would have had employed all three heel managers in WWF at the same time.
4. In the summer of 1988 I came to the WWF after some great success in other territories. I was an early candidate for the persona of Mr. Perfect which eventually was given to the late Curt Hennig. Instead I was given a horrendous gimmick, perhaps the worst of all time, and my career never recovered. Who am I?

Answer: Terry Taylor

Terry Taylor had achieved success and won championships wherever he had wrestled prior to his WWF arrival in July 1988. To this day the Rooster gimmick is considered one of the worst of all time. Taylor's promising career never recovered and the stigma of the gimmick followed him wherever he competed until his retirement.
5. I was the original wrestler to be the vehicle for the long awaited arrival of Bobby Heenan in September 1984. However blood clots in my lungs sidelined me for several months. When I returned I chose to be a controversial color commentator for the next five years. Who am I?

Answer: Jesse "The Body" Ventura

Jesse Ventura who was originally managed in his previous stint by Freddie Blassie was to be the founding member of the infamous Heenan Family. When Jesse began to be plagued by a persistent cough and fatigue, tests revealed blood clots and plans were changed. The late great Big John Studd ultimately took his place and became a fixture in the Heenan Family for over two years.
6. In the late 1980's I was one half of one of the most successful teams in the era. Together with my partner, Bill Eadie, we won The WWF Tag Team Titles three times between 1988 and 1990. In 1991 I was repackaged as a rather cartoonish character which had mild success and lasted just about fifteen months. Who am I?

Answer: The Repo Man

Barry Darsow, aka Demolition Smash, was repackaged with the lame Repo Man gimmick in November 1991. After some initial success in feuds with Virgil and the British Bulldog, he became a jobber to the stars. His last notable angle was stealing the hat of Randy Savage on an early Raw segment in 1993.
7. I came from a legendary but ill fated wrestling family from Texas. Just as I was reaching my potential a motorcycle accident ultimately led to the amputation of one of my feet. In the summer of 1990 I joined The WWF and won The WWF Intercontinental Title from Mr. Perfect at "SummerSlam' 90". Who am I?

Answer: Kerry Von Erich

Kerry Von Erich the fourth and arguably most successful son of the legendary Von Erich clan. Kerry defeated Ric Flair for The NWA Heavyweight Title in May 1984 but lost the belt just three weeks later. Two years later he lost one of his feet but continued to wrestle with a prosthesis in his final years.

In August 1990 he won The WWF Intercontinental Title in the last big win of his career, he committed suicide in February 1993.
8. I arrived in the WWF in late 1983 and after wrestling as a heel for more than 18 months I fired my manager on a segment of TNT. I quickly befriended Hulk Hogan and became very popular with the fans. That is until I back stabbed him in the summer of 1986 and we had a memorable feud. After failing to win the belt, I grew disgusted with my manager and fired him again in August 1987. After leaving the WWF in late 1987, a popular rumor was started that I had perished when I fact I devoted this time to running my bowling allies.

Answer: Paul "Mr. Wonderful" Orndorff

Paul Orndorff was at times either one of the most popular or hated wrestlers in the WWF from 1983-1987. However, whether he was being cheered or jeered he was one of the companies top stars. Orndorff's bouts with Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Bob Orton, Junkyard Dog and Rick Rude were great.

After lying low for two years he resurfaced in WCW in 1990 and feuded with The Four Horsemen on behalf of Sting. After spending some time in Herb Abrams ill fated UWF he returned to WCW in early 1993 winning The Television Title and Tag Team Titles.

After his 1995 retirement he remained a trainer at WCW's Powerplant until they folded in 2001.
9. I was once considered one of the top talents in wrestling during the 1980s. Coming from a wrestling family, I was a real pure bred. I twice won the WWF Tag Team Titles with my real life brother in law in 1985. I won the coveted NWA U.S. Heavyweight Title in 1988 and was a member of one of the more successful incarnations of the legendary Four Horsemen. In 1996 I returned to The WWF and was given the awful gimmick of "The Stalker" and although I defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley on RAW, my stint was not a success. Who am I?

Answer: Barry Windham

Barry Windham was one of the most promising talents in wrestling during the 1980's. He won the WWF Tag Team Titles with brother in law Mike Rotundo in January 1985 and again in June of the same year. Along with Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and the incomparable Ric Flair they formed a very successful incarnation of the feared Four Horsemen. I am sure that the war painted "Stalker" of 1996 is a persona Barry would like to forget.
10. In the late 1990s I became a huge fan favorite with WWE fans mostly due to my hardcore style and the lack of fear that I placed on serious injury. I was trained by legendary WWE star of the 1970s Dominick DeNucci and have written several best selling books. By now you probably know who I am. However, in the fall of 1986 I wrestled as a jobber on a handful of WWE telecasts most notably losing to Kamala and the British Bulldogs. Who was I known as in these bouts?

Answer: Jack Foley

The legendary hardcore star of the late 1990s Mick Foley had a blink and you'll miss it stint as a jobber in the fall of 1986 in WWF. He often tells the story of how the Dynamite Kid, one of the famed British Bulldogs, dislocated his jaw with a stiff clothesline. According to Mick he could not eat solid food for two weeks after that. Of course he returned in 1996 and this time was more successful.
