Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Based on the better-known Superman, this character was sent to Earth as a baby and adopted by an Earth couple. The goverment soon intervened and tried to turn him into a super-soldier. Who is this muscular hero?

Answer: Hyperion

Hyperion's alter ego is Mark Milton, and his powers include super strength, speed, resistance to injury and flash vision, similar to Superman's heat vision. Unlike Superman, Hyperion has quickly become disenchanted with the world.
2. Kyle Richmond is an African-American entrepreneur who dons a costume to combat those who commit hate crimes. What is his codename?

Answer: Nighthawk

Nighthawk is based on Batman. Unlike Batman, Nighthawk has no qualms about killing his adversaries. Another hero in the Squadron Supreme, the Blur, is also African-American, but the two do not get along.
3. This character grew up on a farm and was largely considered an urban myth. Gaining his powers through a retro virus, he enjoyed a brief time as a celebrity.

Answer: The Blur

Stanley Stewart often wonders if he is doing the right thing by carrying out governmental orders. Nighthawk convinced Blur that there was more good to be done as a hero than as a commercial celebrity.
4. Joseph Daniel Ledger is known as Redstone.

Answer: False

Colonel Ledger is also known as Doctor Spectrum, not Redstone. His mother was a prostitute and his stepfather physically abused him, making him seek shelter in the United States Army. A super powered prism allows him to fly and form a forcefield around himself.
5. This woman sleeps in a large tomb and does not age. She has super strength and the power of flight. Who is she?

Answer: Princess Power

Zarda met Hyperion when she healed him after a battle. She hints at having a similar origin to that of Hyperion's, but she claims that she was sent to Earth to take it over. Based on Wonder Woman, Zarda seems to take pleasure from killing people.
6. A female with gills and other fish-like characteristics, Amphibian saw two people die in front of her because of her shocking appearance. What does Doctor Spectrum call her?

Answer: Kingsley

Amphibian's mother killed herself due to her daughter's gruesome visage, and her father went insane. In her first encounter with the human race, the human in question became very frightened and broke their air hose.
7. Michael Redstone gained his powers from an explosion.

Answer: False

Redstone, a super powered serial killer, gained his powers as the result of a government experiment. His powers are similar to those of Hyperion's, but he does not have as much control over them as the hero does. On one killing rampage he murdered five African-American prostitutes.
8. How small can Tom Thumb become?

Answer: Less than an inch

Thomas Thompson was another volunteer who had Hyperion's DNA grafted onto his own. Able to shrink to .007 of an inch, Thumb is perfect for any kind of covert operation. Originally based on The Atom, the Supreme Power version of Tom Thumb is not a scientist.
9. A scientist and author, this woman has the power to see and influence parallel dimensions.

Answer: Arcanna

Arcanna can also bring about previously unlikely events, similar to the Scarlet Witch. She contacted the government in hopes of getting rid of her power. At one point, she was thrown four years into the future.
10. Emil Burbank has an unparalleled intellect. He has doctoral degrees in economics, literature and Metallurgy, among others. Which famous super villain is he based on?

Answer: Lex Luthor

Burbank's intelligence was caused by the same virus that gave Blur his powers, although Burbank denies this.
11. This character appeared in issue 18 of "Supreme Power". He lived in an underground fallout shelter until the government gave him a special suit.

Answer: Nuke

Nuke is Albert Gaines, an orphan who lives in an underground fallout shelter because he gives off dangerous levels of radiation. He also has super strength and the ability of flight.
12. Shape is a very obese man who used to work as a janitor. Which superpower does he not possess?

Answer: Invisibility

Raleigh Lund is the perfect soldier, loyal and willing to follow orders, not to mention great strength. His only shortcoming is that he is not particularly intelligent nor does he think on his own very well.
13. Inertia is actually Edith Freiberg. What is her occupation when we first meet her?

Answer: Soldier

Inertia can manipulate kinetic energy, she also has super-strength and invulnerability. She is a private in the U.S. Army and reveals herself to the public after wrecking a bar. She is a lesbian whose father was prejudiced against homosexuals.
14. Steven Binst is Whiteface, a serial killer in clown makeup who kills via toxins. Before that, in which state did he work as a pharmacist?

Answer: Illinois

Binst killed a mother and her children when he knowingly gave them a toxin disguised as prescription medicine. Sent to jail, he escaped and went on a killing spree numbering in the thousands. His reign ended when Nighthawk shot a harpoon through him and then snapped his neck.
15. Who was the original head of Project Hyperion?

Answer: General Casey

General Casey ran Project Hyperion and was succeeded by General Richard Alexander, who ran the Squadron Supreme. Mark Gruenwald was a prolific Marvel writer and Milton is Hyperion's surname.
