Middle Earth is the setting for "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit", the former of which revolves around destroying the ring of power forged by the Dark Lord Sauron, which is capable of corrupting all those who come into contact with it and enhancing evil power.

Answer: A dark curse by evil magicians sent us here

Storybrooke, Maine is the setting for much of "Once Upon a Time", a series by the "Lost" creators. The entire world is populated by fairy tale and other fictional characters who have been sent to this "real"-world location by a dark curse meant to transport people from worlds with magic into a world without magic.

Cittagazze is a city introduced in Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series, most notably in book two, "The Subtle Knife". This city, haunted by Specters who devour the souls of adolescents and adults, is a ragged, abandoned place with only roving gangs of children. Lyra is sent here when her "Uncle", Lord Asriel, rips a hole between her world and Cittagazze.

Colonel Roy Mustang, an alchemist with fire-based skills, is one of the heroes of "Fullmetal Alchemist", an animated series. In Amestris, the nation Mustang serves, a cruel militaristic government runs things and has for years, killing almost an entire province of people during a Civil War in the backstory. Mustang, scarred by his involvement in such brutality, wishes to atone for his and his government's crimes by removing the leaders and installing nonmilitary rule.
