Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. God made all the seas, land, and animals of the world in less than a week! He saw that they were all good but something was missing. On what day did God create man in his own image?

Answer: The 6th day

On the first day God said "Let there be light!". Light appeared and God separated it from the darkness. Then the next days he spoke all the waters, lands, fish, birds, and animals into existence. However on the sixth day, He did something special. He reached down with his bare hands and created the first man with the dirt. He made him in his own image and named him Adam. (Genesis 1-3)
2. God made the first man and named him Adam. He let Adam name all the animals. However something was still missing. Adam didn't have a mate. What did God create the first woman out of?

Answer: one of Adam's ribs

God was very proud of Adam because he had made him with his own hands. However God and Adam both noticed all the animals, fish, and birds, had a mate. God had made males and females of every kind. God realized Adam needed a female. So He put Adam to sleep and took out one of his ribs. With the rib, God formed a woman. Adam woke up to find a beautiful lady. Adam called her Eve, which means the "mother of all living". (Genesis 2)
3. God made a beautiful garden to be Adam and Eve's home. There was no sickness or death at that time. He told them they could eat from any tree they liked, except one. What was the name of the tree they were not allowed to touch?

Answer: the Tree of Good and Evil

God made the garden of Eden and let Adam and Eve live there. He told them they could watch over all of the animals and eat from any of the trees they liked, except one. God told them if they touched the Tree of Good and Evil they would die. (Genesis 2:15-17)
4. Adam and Eve were enjoying the garden, but there was one animal that was very clever. The serpent wanted to tempt them to disobey God. Who was he secretly?

Answer: The devil

The devil hated God's creation, so he disguised himself as a snake. Day after day he would watch Adam and Eve. Finally the opportunity to trick them came! (Genesis 3:1, Revelations 12:9)
5. The serpent caught Eve alone one day looking at the tree. He told her to try a bite, it wouldn't harm anything. What did he tell Eve was the reason God didn't want her or Adam to eat the fruit?

Answer: God didn't want them to become greater than He was.

Eve knew she shouldn't touch the tree because God had told them not to. However the serpent told her, "Nothing bad will happen. Just eat it and see!" Eve still did not eat the fruit. Finally the serpent told her, "The only reason why God told you not to touch it is because he did not want you to become greater than He was!" Eve considered this and then ate the fruit. (Genesis 3)
6. Eve listened to the serpent and ate the fruit. She thought it was so good she shared it with her husband, Adam. What happened when they both ate the fruit?

Answer: They realized they needed clothes.

Adam and Eve ate of the fruit and then realized they were naked. They were afraid God would find them so they ran and tried to make clothes out of whatever they could find. Finally they found some fig leaves and made clothes for each other out of that. (Genesis 3:7)
7. God knew something was wrong and came looking for Adam and Eve in the garden. Adam and Eve were so afraid that they hid when God called their names.

Answer: True

God knew that something bad had happened but He gave Adam and Eve the chance to make it right. He walked through the garden and called their names, but Adam and Eve hid from Him. They knew that they had disobeyed his command not to eat of the tree and were afraid. (Genesis 3:8-10)
8. God was very sad. His prized creation had disobeyed him and now evil was in His world. Adam, Eve, and the serpent all made excuses. What excuse did Adam give?

Answer: "The woman tricked me."

Adam and Eve eventually came out and met with God. God was very upset because He knew what they had done. Adam told God, "The woman tricked me to do it." Eve said, "The serpent tricked me to do it." The serpent looked around but had no one to blame. (Genesis 3:12-23)
9. God knew He had to punish Adam, Eve, and the serpent for what had happened. What was the serpent's punishment?

Answer: He would crawl on his belly and eat dust forever.

God was very sad. He told the serpent that from now on he would crawl on his belly and eat dust. He told Eve she would have to deliver her children in pain. He told Adam the ground would no longer grow food for him or his family. Adam would have to work very hard and face thorns and weather. Nothing would ever be the same again. (Genesis 3:12-23)
10. God had to make sure Adam and Eve or any of their descendants could not enter the garden again because there was the Tree of Life in there. God didn't want them to live for eternity in sin. What did he put there to protect them and keep them out?

Answer: an angel with a flaming sword of fire

Adam and Eve loved the garden very much, but God was afraid that if they ate from the Tree of Life, they would have eternal life living in sin and pain forever. He placed an angel with a flaming sword to guard the garden after He sent Adam and Eve away. God made a promise that He would redeem mankind someday from the sin that had happened. (Genesis 3:29)
