Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How do you spell the last name of the Shoppers third baseman?

Answer: Bakanauskas

He's one of Jake's favorite players. Jake caught a foul ball he hit.
2. In what inning do Jake, Randy, and their grandparents always "shift"?

Answer: Third

Randy moves beside Jake.
3. Who brought up Harvey Haddix first in the ninth?

Answer: Grandpa

Wade found himself in the same situation Haddix had a perfect game with no runs from his own team.
4. Under the name of the stadium on the sign outside, what did it say?

Answer: Where the Stars of the Future Shine

Only a few players Randy and Jake have seen there ever made it to the majors.
5. What league were the Shoppers in?

Answer: Cascade League

They were vying for the championships when they went into the last game.
6. What did Dirk Wade write on the scorecard? (Besides his name.)

Answer: Thanks, Jake. I couldn't have done it without you.

He signed the baseball with his name only.
7. When Grandpa was telling the kids about Haddix's "perfect game", he said, "You'll never guess who came up next." Randy said Babe Ruth. Was he right?

Answer: No, it was Hank Aaron

These are the top all-time home run hitters. They didn't want to pitch to Aaron, so Haddix walked him. The no-hitter lived!
8. How many dollars worth of baseball cards did Jake win?

Answer: 100

This included a set autographed by everyone in the league.
9. If Jake had known better, could he have made Wade win the perfect game?

Answer: Yes

He gave someone a triple instead of a possible homer, changed a homer to right to a homer to center (of course that didn't work,) and when he was about to put down a homer for the Shoppers, the official scorer had made a blatant call. Jake had written the "wrong" play in, erasing the magic.
10. Before the climactic tenth inning, who had seen a triple play?

Answer: Grandpa (but only on TV)

Around the time that was mentioned, Grandma showed Jake her "perfect game". Thanks for playing my quiz!
