The Energized Protodermis Entity was first discovered by the Toa Metru a thousand years ago. Helryx used her mask of Psychometry to trace the origins of the Rahkshi. She planned to destroy every known source of Energized Protodermis to cut off the Brotherhood supply of Rahkshi.

Keetongu was helping to cure victims of the Visorak horde, but agreed to stop for a while to assist in the Battle of Nynrah. Afterwards the two confronted the Energized Protodermis Entity on an island north of Keetongu's home island.

Vezon stole the Makuta's Kanohi Olmak and fled the island. He accidentally ended up on the Entity's island and faced a giant wave of Energized Protodermis. Nevertheless, Helryx and Keetongu went through the portal, escaping the wave.

After piecing together Makuta Teridax's plan, Pridak knew his entire plan and resumed their plans to overthrow the Great Spirit. They knew that the Makuta used a virus to poison Mata Nui and that it was on Xia.
