Answer: Jerome and Esme

Jerome and Esme Squalor were the names of the new people who were to take care of them. Esme was secretly pretending to be nice to them when she really worked with Count Olaf. Jerome was foolish and didn't bother getting into arguments.
2. What clothing did the children have to wear that was "in"?

Answer: pinstripes

"Regular light is in - as in as aqueous martinis, pinstripes and orphans." said Esmé. The clothes were way too large to fit either of the children.
3. In this story V.F.D. stood for Very Fancy Doilies and the Baudelaires thought the Quagmires where hidden in it. But what was the number of the statue that they were really hidden in?

The red herring was lot #48 where the Quagmires were hidden in. The Baudelaires thought they were hidden in a large box called V.F.D.

Answer: The In Auction

The name of the auction was "The In Auction" where they sold things that were "in." A lot of the things in that were in didn't seem to be very interesting things and would probably never bee "in" in real life.

"Cafe Salmonella was located in the Fish District, which was part of the city that looked, sounded, smelled, and- if you were to kneel down and lick the streets- probably tasted like fish."

Gunther spoke saying please very often and he mixed up words a lot.

Answer: Violet, Klaus and Sunny got pushed down the elevator shaft

Esmé Squalor pushed them down the elevator shaft and all they saw was total darkness which is suppose to explain what they saw as they were throw down the shaft.
