Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are _____, but he is ______."

Answer: weak, strong

With all our sin we are weak, but when Jesus died on the cross, he took away that guilt. Now we are not weak, but strong because that load has been taken off our shoulders. In another version of this hymn, the line ends with "In his love we shall be strong".
2. "I am Jesus' little ____. Ever glad at heart I am. For my shepherd gently guides me, knows my needs and well provides me. Loves me every day the same. even calls me by my name!"

Answer: lamb

Throughout the Bible we are referred to as God's sheep and he is the shepherd. This is because he guides us and takes care of us and will not let us stray from Him.
3. "Father Abraham has many ______. Many ______ has Father Abraham. I am one of them and so are you so let's all praise the Lord!"

Answer: sons

God promised Abraham that as many stars are in the sky would be how many descendants he would have. In the song, Abraham has sons, but I'm sure he had some daughters too!
4. "Now I lay me down ______, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take."

Answer: to sleep

This prayer is said before you go to bed, asking God to keep you safe as you sleep and to grant you a blessed end if you die in your sleep. Kids are sometimes taught this when they are about three or four years old.
5. Is the following quotation correct? "Jesus hates the little children. All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white. They are precious in his sight. Jesus hates the little children of the world."

Answer: False

Jesus LOVES the children! He would never do what he did for us on the cross if he didn't love us.
6. "Go tell it on the __________, over the hills and everywhere. Go tell it on the ___________, that Jesus Christ is born."

Answer: mountain

This 19th century Christmas hymn was traditionally used as an African-American spiritual song. It was written by John W. Work, who is telling us to spread the news everywhere that Jesus is born!
7. "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, ___________________"

Answer: Was blind, but now I see!

All of these make sense, but only "Was blind but now I see" is used in that line of "Amazing Grace". We were dead and dirty with sin, and hungry for holiness, but now we are alive, fed and clean in Christ.
8. Is this what you might have learned? "Ask and it won't be given seek and you shall not find! Knock and the door will be locked unto you for Christ has banned it from mankind."

Answer: No

God gave us everything. Is the door really locked? Has Christ banned us talking to him in prayer? No, in fact, he encourages it.
9. Is this correct? "O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good. His love (mercy) endures forever!"

Answer: Yes

This is the the second part of the Common Table Prayer. We say it before we have a meal.
10. "Our Father in Heaven, _________ be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven."

Answer: hallowed

This is one version of the Lord's Prayer. It is one of the most recited prayers along with The Rosary. One of the versions of the whole prayer goes like this:

"Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever and ever. Amen."
