Notebook paper has three holes along the left margin so you can put the paper in a three-ring binder. Funtrivia Editor spanishliz offers even more info on this topic: "While in Canada and the US [binder paper] normally has 3 holes, for a three ring binder, in England it has only 2 holes and in Spain it comes with 4 holes! Never bought a binder in England, but have seen them in Spain with either 2 or 4 rings.

The 4-hole paper will fit in either." Thanks, Liz!
