1. What were the colour of the two caravans?

Answer: Red and Green

The caravans each had pretty curtains that hung at the windows - red curtains for the green caravan and green for the red one! The children were also thrilled to discover that each caravan had proper bunk beds and even a small sink and a real stove. They all thought it looked rather like a house inside!
2. Who are Dobby and Trotter?

Answer: horses

Dobby is an old horse owned by three of the children who pulls Julian and Dick's green caravan. Trotter is a sturdy black horse who the milkman lent to them to pull Anne and George's (Georgina's) caravan.
3. What is the name of the lake the children are staying near?

Answer: Merran Lake

The children set off on their own with Julian put in charge of them all. They decide to camp near Merran hills as the circus is camping nearby.
4. Who is Tiger Dan?

Tiger Dan is, in fact the chief clown at the circus, although judging by his personality he's far from funny! He and his friend Lou the acrobat are anxious to get rid of the children as they carry out a mysterious plan.

The children meet Nobby for the first time at the beginning of the book. Nobby owns two performing dogs, Barker and Growler, who amuse the children very much with their clever tricks. Nobby soon befriends them and gladly shows them around the circus camp.

Lou is a professional acrobat. Nobby tells the children that he can climb anything - up trees, drainpipes and can even dance on a tightrope. He orders the children out of the circus camp and gets extremely angry with them all!

Julian is determined to discover the reason why Tiger Dan and Lou want them to move further down the hills. He's sure they're up to something. He decides to hide on the top of his caravan in order to spy on them both.

Pongo is a very mischievous chimpanzee who amuses the children very much with his antics. When they first meet, George introduces Timmy to Pongo who politely shakes paws. Pongo also shakes Timmy by his tail too!

Answer: Cricket

Old Lady is an extremely friendly elephant who is looked after by her keeper Larry. She loves playing cricket and is extremely good at it too! She joins the children and Pongo for a bathe and happily splashes them all with water from her trunk. Pongo was not at all happy!
10. What do the children find hidden in the caves?

Answer: Stolen goods

The children find a hole under their caravan which leads into a huge cave filled full of gold, silver, plates, cups and many other stolen goods carefully hidden by Lou and Tiger Dan.
