Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hammers and nails were hard at work, but this man listened to God and saved his family! Which of these men built a large boat and tried to warn the world a flood was coming?

Answer: Noah

The world was very wicked at the time Noah lived. It was so wicked, God decided to destroy it. He told Noah to build an ark and gather two of every living creature in the world. Noah worked very hard building and gathering food for all those animals. He also preached to the people that God was going to destroy the world. No one listened except Noah's own family.

When the rains came, Noah, his family, and all the animals were saved because he listened to God. After the flood, Noah built an altar and God was so pleased He promised never to destroy the world with water again. (Genesis 5-9)
2. God told this man that he would be the father of many nations. Which leader became a father at almost 100 years old?

Answer: Abraham

God told Abraham to pack up and move to a land that He would show him. God also promised that He would make Abraham the father of many nations. Abraham obeyed but when he was 100 years old, he still had no child. When God told Abraham and Sarah that they would have a son, they both laughed. God kept His promise though and when the baby came God told them to name the boy Isaac. Isaac means "laughter". (Genesis 21)
3. He is more famous for his coat of many colors, but he was also a leader of Egypt. Which of these leaders saved his family from hunger during a famine?

Answer: Joseph

When Joseph was a young man, his father Jacob made him a coat of many colors because Joseph was his favorite son. It made his brother very jealous and they tried to kill him. They changed their minds, though, and sold Joseph into slavery. They thought they would never see Joseph again.

However God took care of Joseph. His brothers were shocked and surprised when during a famine (a time when there was no food or crops that grew), they went to Egypt to buy grain and found out their brother was the second most powerful man in the country. Joseph later forgave his brothers and saved his family's life.(Genesis 37:1-50:26)
4. God told this man to tell Pharaoh, "Let My people go!". Which of these men lead the Israelites out of Egypt?

Answer: Moses

Moses ran away from Egypt, but one day God spoke to him from a burning bush and told Moses to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go! Moses was afraid at first but God promised that He would go with him. God had to send many plagues before Pharaoh would listen to Moses.

When God killed all the firstborn children of Egypt, Pharaoh finally listened to Moses. The Israelites got out of Egypt as quickly as they could! God parted the Red Sea for them when Pharaoh's army came after them. Moses led the people through the wilderness for many years afterwards. (Exodus 3-12)
5. The walls came tumbling down! Which of these men lead the Israelites' march around the walls of Jericho?

Answer: Joshua

When the Israelites finally made it to the Promised Land, they were faced with the task of fighting the people that already lived there. Jericho had very strong walls that protected it from attacks. Joshua prayed and God gave him the battle plan. The Israelites had to march around the city many days and they were told not to talk or make a sound until God told them to. On the last day God told them to march around the city and then shout! When they did, the walls of Jericho fell down flat! Joshua and the Israelites took the city and won the battle of Jericho.

They gave everything they got from the city to God because He had helped them. (Joshua 5-6)
6. Before there were kings, God's people were ruled by people known as judges. Which of these women was a female judge?

Answer: Deborah

Deborah was a female judge, whose story is found in the Biblical book of Judges. She gave advice from under a palm tree and taught people what God wanted. When God's people were being mistreated by their enemies, she encouraged a leader named Barack to go fight a battle.

However Barack would not go without her. Deborah told him because he didn't trust God, God would give the victory to a woman. God did exactly that. When the enemy general went to a tent to rest during the battle, a woman killed him. Deborah wrote a song about it and gave praise to God. (Judges 4)
7. This leader killed a giant and wrote many chapters of the book Psalms. Which of these leaders was the second king of Israel?

Answer: David

When David was a young man, he was a shepherd. He wrote many songs of praise (psalms) while watching sheep. God protected him and helped him fight a lion and a bear. One day David went to the army to see his brothers who were soldiers. He saw a giant named Goliath mocking God and the Israelites while they hid in fear. David told the king that he would fight the giant because God would help him.

He didn't wear any armor and only took five smooth stones. David killed Goliath with the first stone and the Israelites got the courage to win the battle. Later, David became a great king in Israel. (1 Samuel 17)
8. A king for thought. Which one of these men was the wisest king in Israel and also wrote the book of Proverbs?

Answer: Solomon

Solomon was a very young man when he became king. God visited him and because Solomon's father had been a good king, God told Solomon He would give him one request. Solomon knew leading God's people was a very difficult task. He asked God for wisdom. God was so impressed Solomon asked for wisdom instead of gold, riches, or many other things, He gave all of it to Solomon in addition to wisdom. Solomon became the wisest king in the world and many rulers came to visit him.

He wrote many of his wise sayings down in the book of Proverbs. (1 Kings 3, Proverbs)
9. Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Ezekiel were all leaders known as prophets. They delivered God's message to people during many difficult times.

Answer: True

When God's people were very wicked, he sent prophets to tell them to change or terrible things would happen. He also sent prophets to the kings to give them guidance or advice. Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Ezekiel were only three of God's prophets that brought messages to His people. Sadly though, God's people didn't listen to them and ended up in captivity. God promised He would bring them back though in the future and the people would know that He loved them.

He promised to send a Messiah that would save them. (books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel)
10. Which queen saved her people from being killed by an awful law a wicked ruler named Haman had made?

Answer: Queen Esther

A king was very sad when he lost his wife. He sent for all the beautiful women in the land and had a beauty contest to find a new bride. Esther was one of the women and was so beautiful the king loved her at first sight. However no one knew that she was a Jew.

While she was queen, an evil man named Haman tried to kill the Jews with a law because they would not bow down to him. He convinced the king that these people were trouble makers and the king signed a law to put all the Jews to death. Esther found out and stopped the king from allowing Haman to go through with his wicked plan.

She saved her people from being killed and afterwards the Jews celebrated her deed with a holiday. (Esther)
