Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This is the block at the very top of an arch which supports all the others.

Answer: Keystone

If you happen to see quite an old arch made of bricks or stones, the one at the very top in the middle is the one that holds the whole thing together. It's usually bigger than the others and might sometimes have something written on it, like the date the arch (or the building it's part of) was built.
2. A dance where you might put your arms or legs in, take them out again, shake them all about, and turn around.

Answer: Hokey cokey (or hokey pokey)

This fun dance is either called the hokey cokey (if you're in the UK) or the hokey pokey (US). You might start with putting one arm in and taking it out. Then, you'll do the other arm. You might then do the same thing for each of your legs before ending with putting your whole body in (which probably means you jump forwards and backwards).
3. This is either what you use to type on your computer, or a type of musical instrument that looks like a piano.

Answer: Keyboard

Computer keyboards come in many different types, because there are many different languages and not every country that uses the same letters as you will have the same layout. For example, the most common layout for English-speaking countries has QWERTYUIOP on the top row of letters, while French-speaking countries may instead have a keyboard with AZERTYUIOP.

Other keys may also be moved around to easier-to-reach places, depending on what letters or characters are more common in that country's language.
4. Eeyore, from the "Winnie the Pooh" stories, is this sort of animal that looks a bit like a horse.

Answer: Donkey

Eeyore the donkey is a friend of the Hundred Acre Woods gang, but he is a bit gloomier than the rest. He's always losing his tail (which has a pink bow on it) and seems to think the worst of everything. But no matter what, Eeyore's friends always try to include him and help where they can.
5. This is a popular sport which can be played on a field with a ball or on ice with a puck.

Answer: Hockey

The sticks used in field hockey are more curved at the end, instead of the longer, straighter ends of ice hockey sticks. In both games, the aim to is to score more goals than the other team by hitting the ball or puck past the goalkeeper into the net.
6. This sort of person rides a horse in horse races.

Answer: Jockey

Because of the need to race as fast as possible, jockeys tend to be smaller and lighter so there's less to weigh the horse down. Jockeys are easily identified in races by the brightly coloured clothing they wear, something which horse racing commentators use to keep track of who is winning as the horses race by.
7. You might score this if you get three strikes in a row in tenpin bowling.

Answer: Turkey

Your score in tenpin bowling depends on the number of pins you knock down with each throw. If you manage to knock down all ten with one throw, you have scored a strike, which is represented by an X. Knock down all ten pins twice in a row and you'll have thrown a double. Three in a row and you'll have scored a turkey. If you're extremely good at getting strikes, you can score a perfect score of 300 by bowling 12 strikes in a row.
8. You could describe someone with this word if they aren't singing the right notes in a song.

Answer: Offkey

If you've ever heard someone singing at karaoke and they're not very good, chances are they're singing offkey. That is, the notes they are singing don't match the notes of the song. This isn't as uncommon as you might think, because the sound of your voice sounds different to your own ears (usually deeper) than to how other people hear it (or when you hear it back from a recording), so you may think you're singing in tune but in reality you might be a note or two off.
9. This word is a type of primate with a long tail.

Answer: Monkey

Monkeys are generally divided into two groups - Old World and New World monkeys. Old World monkeys, which include macaques, baboons and mandrills, are found mainly in Asia and Africa, while New World monkeys are native to the Americas, and include marmosets, squirrel monkeys and spider monkeys. Primates aren't just divided into apes and monkeys - humans and lemurs are also considered primates.
10. Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, used to say this word a lot when he found something surprising.

Answer: Crikey

"Crikey" is a common word in Australia and most famous for being the catchphrase of Steve Irwin. It even forms part of the scientific name of a type of snail, Crikey steveirwini, which is entirely named after one of the most beloved wildlife conservationists of our time.
