Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these characters was once called "Mobius' number one hero", and was also declared "Hero of the Year" at one point in the show?

Answer: Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic was called "Mobius' number one hero" on the radio in the episode "Sonic's Song" right before a song about him was played. "Sonic's Song" became extremely popular, and everyone except Robotnik loved it - even Grounder and Scratch. He was declared the "Hero of the Year" in the episode titled "Hero of the Year", where he was thrown a surprise banquet that was really a trap that Robotnik had planned with the help of Wes Weasley, who he had tricked. Sonic surrendered himself to save his friends, but Robotnik trapped them anyway.

In the end, Wes Weasley freed Sonic, and Sonic rescued all of his friends. Captain Rescue was a retired hero, Edgar Eagle was a superhero on a television show, and Wes Weasley was a frequently appearing salesman.
2. Sonic rescued Tails all of the time. Did Sonic's sidekick ever rescue him?

Answer: Yes

Tails saved Sonic on more than one occasion. A couple of the episodes that he rescued Sonic in were "Slowwww Going" and "Tails in Charge". In "Slowwww Going", Sonic was shot with a ray gun that made him extremely slow, and was captured by Grounder and Scratch, who put him in a cage. Tails escaped, and came back with some sloths, who distracted the robots while he shot Sonic with the weapon, which had been turned into a "fast ray" when the crystal powering it broke. Sonic was then able to escape. In "Tails in Charge", Sonic was shot with a weapon that turned him to stone. Tails protected Sonic by keeping him away from the badniks by setting all kinds of traps for them, and by outfoxing them.

In the end, Tails tricked Scratch and Grounder, and made them shoot Sonic again, which turned him back to normal.

In this episode, Tails rescued Sonic without help from anyone else.
3. Sonic used more than just his speed to stop Robotnik's evil plans: he also used his wits. What did Sonic do very often to trick Robotnik's robots, and sometimes even Robotnik?

Answer: He disguised himself, and pretended to be someone else.

Robotnik was usually able to see through Sonic's disguises, but Grounder and Scratch pretty much always fell for them no matter how obvious or strange they were. Sometimes Tails disguised himself to try to trick Robotnik's badniks too. Sonic has disguised himself as a game show host, a repairman, a police officer, a conductor, a doctor, a reporter, a postman, and many other different things to try to keep his enemies from recognizing him.
4. For Sonic's birthday, Tails decided to give him an interesting gift that would allow him to fly. What was it, and how did he obtain the gift?

Answer: It was a hover hang-glider that he built.

In "Tails Prevails", Sonic told Tails that his birthday was in a couple of days. Sonic was Tails' best friend, and he really wanted to get him something special. Tails tried to earn some money, but everytime he attempted to complete a job something went wrong. Once he was chased by an angry mob, and he even accidentally created a tornado.

He gave up on trying to earn money, and decided to build a gift for Sonic instead. Sonic was very happy with the gift, and also very surprised and impressed, because this was the first time that he had seen Tails' skills as a mechanic. Tails was later tricked into building a weapon for Dr. Robotnik, and Sonic used his hover hang-glider, which he came up with the name for, to destroy it.
5. Sonic had one special ability that he used several times to get himself and Tails out of trouble. Which of these was one of Sonic's skills?

Answer: He could use his buzz saw attack to cut through most things.

Sonic could be seen doing his buzz saw attack in the opening for "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog". The show was loosely based on the "Sonic" video games that were out at the time, so the idea for Sonic's buzz saw attack was probably taken from his spin dash in the games.

In the show, he called this move his "triple spin". He also had other abilities that he used in the show. A couple of them were that he could run around in a circle really quickly to create a whirlwind, that he could run backwards as fast as he could forwards, and that he could run on top of water.
6. Sonic always found a way to foil Robotnik's plans, even when things seemed hopeless. This left Robotnik furious many times, when he would often yell something out of frustration. What was his catchphrase, that was heard in most of the episodes?

Answer: "I hate that hedgehog!"

Doctor Ivo Robotnik's main goal was to rule Mobius. He despised Sonic so much because he constantly ruined his evil plans. His two insane relatives were his mother, Mama Robotnik, and his cousin, Dr. Warpnik. Dr. Robotnik was very intelligent, and built many different kinds of machines.

In the first episode, Robotnik declared Sonic the most wanted fugitive on the planet, and offered one billion mobiums for Sonic "alive or otherwise". Robotnik was mocked by Sonic all the time, who often called him "Robuttnik".

In the episode "Lifestyles of the Sick and Twisted", Tails called him "Eggman" as an insult, which was the first time he was called this in English.
7. Professor Dinglehopper Von Schlemer was a goofy, brilliant scientist, who sometimes assisted Sonic and Tails. Which of these things was something that he had trouble with?

Answer: It was difficult for him to remember his name.

Professor Von Schlemmer was a good guy whom Sonic and Tails sometimes visited to get a device that could help them stop Robotnik. He also helped them find each other when they got separated, like in "Tails' Tale". One time Tails asked him to come to Sonic's party, and he said that he had always wanted to meet Professor Von Schlemmer. Tails responded, "You're Professor Von Schlemmer, remember?".

He replied, "I am? That's wonderful! Then I can be the one to introduce me to him.". Some of his inventions were his Dream-A-Ma-Jig, Gizmo Gas, Sonic Sonar, Bigger Maker Machine, Delicate Laser Device, and Spinner Shaker Machine.
8. Knuckles the Echidna appeared in a few episodes of "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog".

Answer: False

"The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" only had one season that originally aired from September 6, 1993 to December 3, 1993. Knuckles the Echidna first appeared in the video game "Sonic the Hedgehog 3", which was released early in 1994, so it was not possible for him to appear in the cartoon because he had not been created yet. Knuckles has appeared in many other video games, and he did appear in two "Sonic" cartoons, which were "Sonic Underground" and "Sonic X".
9. Sonic was very protective of Tails, and wanted him to stay out of danger, but Tails often wanted to join Sonic on missions, no matter how dangerous they were. What did Sonic occassionally blackmail Tails with to get him to stay out of harm's way?

Answer: He threatened to tell everyone what Tails' real name was.

In one episode, during a fight with Robotnik, Sonic told Tails to leave so that he would not be in danger and get hurt. Tails insisted that he wanted to stay and help. Sonic said, "You get out of here right now, or I'll tell everyone your real name is Miles." Tails yelled, "No! Not that!", and then he quickly left.

When Sonic and Tails first met, Tails told Sonic that he hated his name, Miles Prower, and Sonic gave him his nickname, Tails.
10. At the end of every episode, there was a short segment where Sonic stated a lesson or some sort of advice. What was this part of the show called?

Answer: "Sonic Says"

This part of the show always began with Tails painting "Sonic Sez" on a wall, and Sonic correcting the spelling to "Sonic Says". This segment of the show usually showed Tails, Robotnik's badniks, or some other character making some kind of mistake. Then Sonic would state what they did wrong, and give some sort of advice.

This part of the show was used to teach children important lessons that they should know. Some things mentioned in "Sonic Says" were to always know your phone number and area code, not to steal, to always tell your parent where you're going and when you'll be back, to share, not to cheat, not to run away from home, not to smoke, to stay in school, that things that seem too good to be true probably are, and there was even one about sexual harassment.
