Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. With the ability to run faster than the speed of sound, it's no wonder that Sonic was impatient. Which of these was Sonic's catchphrase, that was heard at least once in most of the episodes?

Answer: "I'm waaaiting!"

Sonic, who was voiced by Jaleel White, said this when something he thought should be happening wasn't or when something was not happening as quickly as he would like it to. In the episode "Best Hedgehog", after Sonic and Tails had been waiting a really long time for Lucas to tell Lucinda his feelings for her, Sonic said, "We're waaaiting!", and Tails joined in by saying, "Yeah, were waiting!". Sonic may have used some of the other quotes sometime, but "I'm waaaiting!" was definitely his most repeated saying.

Another of Sonic's commonly repeated phrases was, "Up, over, and gone!".
2. Sonic and his best bud, Tails, seemed to enjoy life on their planet, at least when Robotnik wasn't causing trouble or threatening to destroy it. What was the name of the planet that this show took place on?

Answer: Mobius

Mobius had a very cartoony look in this series, and it had many different kinds of inhabitants. Some of the places on Mobius, like Marble Zone and Chemical Plant Zone, were taken from "Sonic" games. They had the same names, but their appearances did differ some from the appearances of the zones in the Sega Genesis games.

The other three choices were names of planets that appeared in the "Star Fox" video game series.
3. Robotnik created two robots to help him achieve his goal of capturing Sonic. What were the names of his two henchbots?

Answer: Scratch and Grounder

Scratch and Grounder were extremely incompetent, and usually could not complete simple tasks. They were usually tricked very easily by Sonic. Their constant fighting with each other was often one of their biggest downfalls. Coconuts was also one of Robotnik's robots.

He was demoted to being the janitor after Scratch and Grounder were created. Coconuts was more intelligent than Scratch and Grounder, and fell for Sonic's tricks less often, but still could not capture Sonic. He tried to capture Sonic, hoping that he would be promoted by Robotnik, but his schemes were often ruined by Scratch and Grounder.
4. Due to his ability to fly, Tails once thought that he was a bird.

Answer: True

When Tails first met Sonic he was being kicked out of a nest by some birds, and actually fell on top of Sonic. Sonic told Tails that he was not a bird. Tails replied, "But I can fly. Am I a bug?". Sonic said, "No, you're a fox, and foxes don't fly.". Tails responded, "But I can. See?". Sonic then noticed that the fox had two tails for the first time. Tail explained that he had gotten separated from his parents, and that he had been an orphan for a long time.

Then he asked Sonic if he could live with him. Sonic refused to let him at first, but finally changed his mind and let Tails tag along with him.
5. Sonic had one type of food he liked so much that Robotnik often used it to try to lure Sonic into traps. What was Sonic's favorite food?

Answer: chili dogs

Chili dogs were also Tails' favorite food, but he liked his with extra cheese, according to one episode. Chili dogs were also Sonic's favorite food in the cartoons "Sonic the Hedgehog" and Sonic Underground". They were mentioned usually at least once in every episode, and Sonic and Tails were often seen eating them.

In the episode "Too Tall Tails", after Tails grew extremely large in size, he ate about twenty plates of chili dogs. Chili dogs were almost always on Sonic's mind. Once when he and Tails were lost, Tails asked where they were, and Sonic replied, "A long way from the nearest chili dog stand, that's for sure.".
6. Tails loved adventure just like Sonic, so he always followed Sonic and tried to help save the day like his hero. Tails caused problems for Sonic, though. Why?

Answer: Because he often got kidnapped by Robotnik and his badniks.

Robotnik kidnapped Tails on a regular basis to use against Sonic. Sonic tried his best to keep Tails safe, but because the fox was fairly naive and defenseless, he was often an easy target. Because of his tendency to be kidnapped by the enemy, Tails could sometimes be a nuisance to Sonic, who often found himself going on missions to rescue his sidekick.

After Robotnik captured Tails he would threaten to harm him if Sonic did not do what he wanted, which was often letting Robotnik capture him. Sonic always figured out a way to save his best friend from him, and usually without meeting Robotnik's demands.
7. In "Lovesick Sonic", Sonic heard a female hedgehog crying for help. He quickly raced to her, and then "rescued" her from Robotnik's robots, and as planned, he quickly fell head over heels for her. What was her name?

Answer: Breezie

Breezie was a robot built by Robotnik. He created her so that she would trick Sonic and help him capture him. Breezie kept Sonic busy while Robotnik caused trouble by sending him really long distances to get things for her. The plan worked perfectly for Breezie, and she prepared to trap Sonic in a machine Robotnik built when he returned from the last errand she had sent him on. Tails tried to warn Sonic, but Sonic completely ignored him.

When Sonic returned he became trapped as planned, but after Sonic gave her a poem, which was something she hadn't asked for, she freed him.

She left Sonic a note that said, "If I'm just a robot, then why am I crying? Maybe someday we'll meet down the line, and then, Sonic, you'll be mine.". Breezie did appear again in the episode "Sonic and the Matchmaker", and Breezie told Sonic that she didn't think it would work out, and he agreed, because they both had someone that needed them.
8. In "The Mystery of the Missing Hi-Tops", Sonic's sneakers were stolen. They weren't just any ordinary shoes, though, because Sonic needed them, and could not run fast without them. Why were Sonic's sneakers so important to him?

Answer: Because his feet would burn up if he tried to run without them.

Sonic and Tails heard about a town that had declared tomorrow "Sonic Appreciation Day", and decided to go there. While they were asleep in a hotel, Sonic's sneakers were stolen. Tails told Sonic that he should see if he could run without them. Sonic responded by saying, "Are you kidding, Tails? There's no way I can run without my shoes. My feet will catch on fire!". Tails replied, "Just try it, Sonic.". Sonic ran around the room many times, and soon his socks caught on fire because of the friction.

They searched for clues to try to solve the mystery of who had stolen Sonic's shoes. Sonic finally figured out that it was Harry the Hucker, who had wanted his shoes so that he could cut them up and sell the pieces as souvenirs. This was the first time Sonic had been seen without his shoes on.
9. It's common knowledge that Sonic is blue, but his twin-tailed sidekick's color has slightly varied, depending on what game or show he was in. What color was Tails in this cartoon series?

Answer: brown and white

He definitely appeared brown and white, even though Sonic refered to him as being orange in an episode when he said, "Cheer up, kid. You're already the fastest two-tailed orange fox I know!". Tails was like a little brother to Sonic, who sometimes called him "little bro". Tails was only four and a half years old in this cartoon.

He appeared in all of the episodes of "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", unlike in the other cartoons, where he occasionally appeared, rarely appeared, or did not appear at all. Tails was voiced by Christopher Evan Welch.
10. Sonic's ability to run really fast was usually used to get him out of trouble, but in some cases it caused him trouble instead. Did Sonic ever get a speeding ticket?

Answer: Yes

Sonic and Tails went to court, and were sentenced to thirty days of hard labor on a chain gang because they could not pay the fine in the episode "Road Hog". The guards were extremely strict, and even raised Tails' sentence just for speaking. Sonic learned that they were hypnotized by a flower's pollen that caused anyone to believe what they were told. Tails helped Stench, a skunk that they befriended on the chain gang, make some antidote. Sonic went after Robotnik on his own to stop him from hypnotizing everyone on Mobius, and after having some difficulties he was finally able to.
