Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the full name of the recurring nemesis of the Three Investigators whose initials are E.S.N?

Answer: E. Skinner Norris

We never find out what the E stands for.
Anyway, Skinny Norris was a real pain and was always trying to show up the three and trying to come out on top, but usually failed of course.
2. Who was the main villain in the "Terror Castle" mystery?

Answer: None of them

If you have read the book, then you would know that Terrill and Rex were the same person, and along with Grant, all they tried to do was keep people out of the Castle by scaring them away.
They didn't commit any crimes so there was no real villain in this story.
3. Who was not one of the villains from the "Talking Skull" mystery?

Answer: Scarface Sherwin

There was no Scarface Sherwin in this story.
Apart from these three villains, the others included Spike Neely (bank robber) and Smooth Simpson (con artist).
4. In the "Whispering Mummy" mystery, what was the fate of the three crooks, Professor Freeman and his two helpers Joe and Harry?

Answer: Professor Freeman was pardoned and forgiven by Professor Yarborough but Joe and Harry were sent to prison

Freeman was forgiven only because Yarborough knew Freeman's father and decided to pardon him. Joe and Harry, however, had no excuse to be forgiven and were rightly sent to jail.
5. The main antagonist in "The Stuttering Parrot" mystery is the French thief Hugenay.

Answer: True

Initially the main crook seemed to be Mr. Claudius, but later the three teamed up with him.
6. Who turned out to be El Diablo, the masked bandit, in the "Moaning Cave" mystery?

Answer: Professor Walsh

Luke Hardin was the foreman of Mr.Dalton's ranch. Sam Reston was a detective out to capture Laslo Schmidt who had created the alias of Professor Walsh. Ben Jackson was an old-time prospector who along with his partner Waldo Turner were responsible for the cave moaning.
7. What was unusual about the criminals who stole the Golden Belt in "The Vanishing Treasure" mystery?

Answer: They were midgets dressed as children

The midgets also dressed up as gnomes and assisted in a bank robbery in the same mystery.
8. Who was not one of the villains in the "Skeleton Island" mystery?

Answer: Chris Markos

Chris was a Greek boy who actually helped the three defeat the villains even though he was wrongly accused of sabotage and theft.
Tom Farraday, the security guard, was the surprise villain who turned out to be an accomplice of the Ballinger brothers.
9. What was the common link among the four criminals Frank, Joe, Hugo and Charlie in the "Fiery Eye" mystery?

Answer: They all wore big, black moustaches

They were hired by the Indian, Rama Sidri Rhandur and the moustaches were probably fake!
10. Why did Duke Stefan steal the Silver Spider and plant it in the Three Investigators' room in the "Silver Spider" mystery?

Answer: To break off relations with the US and become the next Prince

However, he was foiled in his attempt and was arrested with his other accomplices.
