Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What were the names of the children who witnessed the birth of Narnia?

Answer: Digory and Polly

Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were the children in 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and 'Prince Caspian'. Edmund, Lucy and Eustace were in 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader', and Eustace and Jill were the children in 'The Silver Chair' and 'The Last Battle'.
2. Were the rings which took a person out of our world green or yellow?

Answer: yellow

The green rings were for home - but what Uncle Andrew did not know was that the magic in the ring drew one towards, or away from, the Wood Between The Worlds, not the worlds themselves.
3. Which of the children met with the White Witch when he/she first entered Narnia?

Answer: Edmund

Edmund ate the Witch's food and was enchanted into believing that he should betray his brother and sisters.
4. With which animals did the children travel to meet Aslan in 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?'

Answer: Mr and Mrs Beaver

While they were in the Beavers' house, Edmund left to go to the Witch's castle, and the other three went on with Mr and Mrs Beaver to meet Aslan at the Stone Table.
5. Peter was knighted Sir Peter Wolfs-Bane (in the later American version he was knighted 'Sir Peter Fenris ULF' - see the interesting info in the answers). Why?

Answer: he defeated Maugrim (Fenris ULF) in single combat

When the Narnia books were written in the 1950s by the English Professor C.S. Lewis, and the Chief of the Witch's secret police was called Maugrim. When the books travelled the Atlantic to the USA in the late 1970s, his name was changed to Fenris ULF; I do not know why. Maugrim is still called Maugrim in the UK and is called such in the excellent television adaptation of this book.
6. Which one of the four Kings and Queens did not appear in 'The Horse and His Boy', although he/she was mentioned?

Answer: Peter

The High King was, apparently, dealing with giants on the northern border at the time. We see Edmund and Susan in Tashbaan, and Lucy at Anvard, but Peter does not make an appearance.
7. What was the name of the Horse who helped Shasta escape Calormen?

Answer: Bree

Aravis was a Calormene girl, who was escaping a marriage alliance with the help of her Mare, Hwin. Corin was the name of Shasta's twin brother, from whom he was separated when a baby.
8. Prince Rabadash was turned into what animal?

Answer: donkey

Aslan told him that he would be cured if he went to the Temple of Tash in Tashbaan, but that he could never leave the city or he would be turned back into a donkey and would never be cured again.
9. Where were the children when they were called back into Narnia to help Prince Caspian?

Answer: at a railway station

They were about to go their separate ways to different schools, and feeling as if the holidays were almost over - they felt they were not quite finished while they were still all together.
10. Which of the following was the bad Dwarf in 'Prince Caspian'?

Answer: Nikabrik

Trumpkin was the DLF (Dear Little Friend) who went to meet the children at Cair Paravel. Dr Cornelius was Prince Caspian's Tutor who helped him escape his uncle. Trufflehunter was the Badger.
11. Only one of the four children could see Aslan at the beginning of their adventure with Prince Caspian - which one?

Answer: Lucy

Edmund was to see him next, followed by Peter and then Susan.
12. Into what creature was Eustace turned?

Answer: dragon

Aslan cured him of this enchantment, and he was a better boy for his experience. Eustace was the only one of the children (Digory, Polly, Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Eustace and Jill) who told someone else about Aslan.
13. What was the name of the gallant Mouse?

Answer: Reepicheep

Rynelf and Drinian were members of the ship's crew, and Peepiceep was the Mouse who was second-in-command of the Mice after Reepicheep (we meet him in 'Prince Caspian').
14. Caspian was to marry the daughter of the Star who lived on the last Island, but what was his name?

Answer: Ramandu

Restimar and Mavramorn were two of the missing Narnian Lords, and Coriakin was the Star who governed the Dufflepuds.
15. How many Signs did Aslan give Jill Pole when he sent the children to find the missing Prince?

Answer: 4

The first - for Eustace to speak to an old friend. The second - to travel north to the ruined city of the giants. The third - to obey the writing they would find in the city. The fourth - to do whatever is asked of them in Aslan's name.
16. For which special occasion were the children on the menu at Harfang?

Answer: the Autumn Feast

The Lady of the Green Kirtle suggested they went to Harfang knowing that 'man' was a special delicacy of the Autumn Feast.
17. Who helped Eustace and Jill teach the bullies of Experiment House a lesson?

Answer: Caspian

King Caspian had died of old age in Narnia, but in Aslan's Kingdom had come back to life as a young man. Aslan allowed him a moment or two in our world to frighten the children of Experiment House into behaving themselves.
18. When King Tirian was allowed a glimpse into our world, he saw the Friends of Narnia assembled together. How did the High King describe them?

Answer: the seven Friends of Narnia

They were: Peter the High King, King Edmund his brother, Queen Lucy his sister, the Lord Digory and the Lady Polly who were there on the First Day, Eustace and Jill. Susan was no longer a Friend of Narnia.
19. What was the name of the Ape who conned most of Narnia?

Answer: Shift

Rishda was the Calormene Captain, Ginger was the Cat who joined Shift in his scheme, and Puzzle was the donkey who wore the lion-skin.
20. Which Dwarf joined King Tirian and the children, and was prepared to fight the Calormenes?

Answer: Poggin

Ginger was the Cat; Diggle and Griffle were Dwarfs (named in 'The Last Battle'), but Poggin was the Dwarf who joined his King to fight for the real Aslan.
