Answer: Chewed Mr. Lynton's newspaper up

Loony is a little black spaniel and is very naughty at times. On this occasion he got to the newspaper before Mr. Lynton had read it, and chewed and tore it up.

2. Roger gives poor Miss Pepper a dreadful shock while they are preparing to leave for Rubadub. What does he do?

Answer: Slides a big trunk down the stairs with a noise like thunder

The house is in chaos as Mr. and Mrs. Lynton are leaving for America and the children and Miss Pepper are leaving for Rubadub. Roger tries to 'help' by sliding the big trunk down the stairs, but only succeeds in scaring Miss Pepper half to death with his antics.

Mr. Marvel's accomplice abandons Barney at the blowhole, not knowing that Dummy was stowed away on the boat and has taken the stolen plans back.
Barney and Dummy crawl through the blow hole to get back to land, and Dummy is caught as the tide comes in, and blown out by the geyser and onto the rocks. Luckily he is ok and they make it safely back to the inn and alert the police.

10. Dummy remembers Barney's mother from years before and is able to tell the children what Barney's father's name was. What was it?

Answer: Martin

Barney has always called himself Barnabas Hugo Lorimer, and has no birth certificate. His mother was Teresa Lorimer, and she ran away back to the circus life six months before Barney was born, so his father never knew he existed.
Once Dummy's memory is jogged he remembers that Barney's father was called Barnabas Frederick Martin and that he lived in Cherrydale. This lets Miss Pepper find Barney's real father after all his years of searching and they have a happy first meeting at Rubadub village.
