Voltron's head is formed when black lion tilts its head forward, spreads its horns, and opens its mouth. For some reason, any other time black lion opens its mouth the head isn't visible, but this is science fiction so they can get away with that!

Sven originally piloted the Blue Lion, but he was badly wounded in a battle, and the Princess took over the Blue Lion. Sven eventually came back, but did not feel he deserved to take his place as a pilot again.

Prince Lotor was not present for several of the beginning episodes, but then he returned from his conquests and set his sights on Arus (and the Princess). He turned out to be even more conniving and vicious than King Zarkon. He was not any better at beating Voltron, however.

The colors were a little mixed up--Lance pilots the red lion, but wears a blue uniform; Keith pilots the black lion but wears red; Sven piloted the blue lion but wore black; the Princess pilots the blue lion but wears sort of a purple-and-pink uniform. Hunk and Pidge are the only ones whose uniform colors match the colors of their lions.
