Honshu is the largest of my islands, and also the most populated. Most of the major Japanese cities are here, including Tokyo (the capital), Osaka, Kyoto, Yokohama and Hiroshima. If you are using a computer or phone branded Sony, Sanyo, Sharp, Panasonic or NEC, it was probably made in Japan. If your family car is a Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda or Subaru, it is Japanese.

A kilt is a tartan skirt and haggis is the heart and liver of a sheep, stuffed into its stomach and cooked with onion and oatmeal. Scotland is north of England, and it also has many islands off its coastline. 'Braveheart' is about the struggles between the Scots and the English in the fourteenth century.

India is one of only two countries with more than 1,000,000,000 people- the other one is China. Bollywood is the film industry in the city of Mumbai, which used to be called Bombay.

On July 4, 1776, America declared itself independent of British rule and became a country. It has grown to be the most powerful country in the world.

Some parts of the western states of New Mexico, Nevada and California are covered by desert and the five Great Lakes are towards the north-east. Old Faithful is a famous geyser located in Yellowstone National Park, in Wyoming.

The capital city is Wellington and the largest city is Auckland, up near the top of the North Island. The original inhabitants were the Maori who arrived on the islands in about 1250. New Zealand Post has issued many stamps with 'Lord of the Rings' themes.

The Greek capital is Athens, named after the goddess Athena. The modern Olympics started back in 1896 and were held in Athens, the same site as the Ancient Games. Greece is very mountainous and is a very popular tourist country.

The large river is the Amazon, which has more water than most of the rivers in the world, combined! The jungle is home to many animals including jaguars, tapirs, monkeys, huge snakes and sloths. My capital is Brasilia but probably my best-known city is Rio de Janeiro, home to the Mardi Gras festival and several world-class beaches.

Libya and Botswana are both in Africa.

The Tour de France happens every July and is a race around the entire country. It takes three weeks and covers more than 3,000 kilometres. The French Open tennis takes place just before the Tour de France, and is one of the four Grand Slam events. (The others are the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open). The French are well known for their love of food, and many dishes were invented there, but strangely enough, not French fries, which originally came from Belgium.

In Paris, you can visit the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral and much more.

Ethiopia used to be called Abyssinia, and its capital city is Addis Ababa. Some of the oldest known human fossils have been found there. They are over 100,000 years old! Haile Selassie ruled from 1930 until 1974, and he died the following year.

I have two official languages, English and French and my national animal is the beaver. The border between Canada and America is the longest in the world and Canada has shores on three different oceans, the Pacific, Atlantic and the Arctic.
