Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. BATTLE QUESTION: Three of these options are colleges in the group known as the "Seven Sisters." Which one is not considered part of that association?

Answer: Simmons College

The colleges that are traditionally considered to be part of the seven are Vassar, Wellesley, Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Smith, Mount Holyoke, and Radcliffe.
2. What British comedy shares its name with a part of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18?

Answer: The Darling Buds of May

The series that aired in the early 1990s was also considered to be Catherine Zeta-Jones's breakout role.
3. Which day of the week was named after the planet Mars?

Answer: Tuesday

Tiw is the name for the Germanic god of combat and heroic glory, and was thought to be linked with the god Mars, so the day was given the name "Tiw's Day", or Tuesday.

Here's a tip for future reference if you come across this kind of question again. If you have a knowledge of the Spanish or French words for the days of the week, you can figure out what most of the days are named after. For example, the Spanish word for Tuesday is "Martes," and so you can figure it's named after Mars. Wednesday in Spanish is "Miércoles," which is close to Mercury, and the Spanish word for Thursday is "Jueves," which is close to "Jove," another name for Jupiter. Sunday and Monday are named after the Sun and Moon, respectively, and the other days are named after the first five planets, but not in that order.
4. What type of animal is a coquí?

Answer: Frog

The coqui frogs are native to Puerto Rico, and there are several types of coqui. Their name comes from the sound they make.

Answer: Fast Food Nation

Other books written by Lewis include "Liar's Game" and "The New New Thing."

9. A famous "Wager" about the existence of God is named after which philosopher?

Answer: Pascal

Pascal's Wager essentially states that either God does or doesn't exist, and you do or do not believe that God exists. If you believe and God exists, you gain eternal salvation. If you don't believe and God exists, you are damned forever. If God doesn't exist, nothing happens, regardless of whether or not you believe.
10. Lakers coach Phil Jackson was known for a dominant offensive strategy named after what shape?

The cast's aversion to having to do hoedowns has become a bit of a running gag on the show.
