Kabul is 5900 ft (1800m) above sea level. The city is over 3000 years old. The city was also the first in Central Asia to have a Marks and Spencer store.

A karakul hat is made from the fur of the Qaraqul breed of sheep. Qaraqul is Turkic for "black fur". The president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, is famous for wearing one.
